My wife expects to pop out my daughter any day now and we're really coming up empty as far as names. We want something that's not really ordinary, but at the same time isn't way out there. Our son's name is Kaeden if that gives you any perspective. Oh, and her middle name will be Marie, that's non-negotiable (personal thing).

So, any help?

I just realized, I could do this in a OOT poll once I get some nominations. Would it be the most pathetic thing ever if OOT named my kid?

Yes.

What's your ethnicity in your families, anything there you could go with?

Names that are both male and female are sometimes cute. Hal is not one of them.

OK then.

One of my best friends, he and his wife named their daughter Iris, which is not one you hear often, yet isn't really far out there. A guy I work with, his daughter is named Stella.

Of course, there's always Seven.

My daughter's names, goes with the "K" theme. Kathleen (Katie) and Kelsey. Feel free to use either one of them. The names, not my daughters. :-)

I strongly advise against gender-ambiguous names or names that shorten to ambiguous names.

I also like Michelle.

You could name her something topical - like Denise (after Dennis)...

maybe Discovery after the shuttle launch in a couple days - maybe shorten it to Disco..

if she was born today - 7/11 - you could call her Craps..

Girls named Charlie piss me off. There's only like 234523987534975345 boy names available and 23097824372304 girl names available, yet freakin' morons insist on naming their kid a name fitting the wrong gender. Ridiculous!

You need to have relations with a Liger. It's a cross of a Lion and a Tiger, skilled in magic. Pretty much my favorite animal.

Old lady names are coming back into style. Just like bland, Little House on the Prairie names like Hannah, Jane, and Ema.

I told my wife if we ever have a daughter she's gonna hate dating. Ever hear that Hummer commercial where the guy talks about driving the kid out to the middle of no where and killing him?

That's just the beginning.

We did this specific question a while back, lots of good answers in there...may wanna search.

Yes, I agree that this is a gamble. If your dauther turns out to be hot, then a gender ambiguous name could be really cute, but if she turns out to be a dog, it's just gonna make it all worse.
