Just got back from AC.. an interesting day.. I never got to the Borgata, but oh well.

Anyway.. Got in around 11:00pm last night, went to the Showboat. What a freaking nightmare. The room was hidden away upstairs across from the House of Blues.

They only had 1-2 NL, 2-4 and 3-6 limit games going on.. Prob about 6 tables when I got there.

I sat down at a 1-2 NL game.

First, the table. Ridiculously ugly red felt tables with stupid aces printed all over them. More than a couple times people got the aces on the tables confused with hands. The redbirds blended in with the tables as well.

The dealers were downright awful. It was almost as if they pulled them off the blackjack tables and said, "Hey, go up stairs, and try to find the poker room and deal."

In the 5 hours I was there we easily had a double digit amount of mis-deals.

Each table had automatic card shufflers.. I played for about 4-5 hours there and we must have had half-a-dozen malfunctions with the stupid thing. The cards disappear below the table and a different deck comes up, then next hand the other deck comes back up, apparently shuffled ?!? /images/graemlins/confused.gif

The chips were terrible as well. They had a horrible feel to them.. I did not like them at all.

Anyway, I bought in at the $1-2 NL game with $120 in chips.. I was stuck cold for a couple hours, didn't get anywhere. All of a sudden around 2pm I hit a great rush and start pulling in a couple decent pots.. Finally get Aces and win a $70 pot with that.. I've rolled my $120 buy-in to about $280-$290 when the earth shattered beneath me.

I'm dealt pocket 9's. A fairly aggressive preflop player at the table, we'll call him "Red Shirt Guy" comes in for a $10 raise.. This was standard for him, he must have did this about 2 dozen times in the few hours he was there.

I call with my pocket 9s, another action player calls as well. We'll call him "Action".

Flop comes: 7-9-K, 2 diamonds. Fireworks are going off in my head. I can't remember the exact betting amounts (I had quite a few Coronas into me at this point, but I still had control of my functions)..

Red shirt guy has about $230 in front of him. Action has about $300.. He's first to act and he checks. Red shirt guy fires $15. We got an okay pot already and I'm looking to protect so I make it $40 to go.. Action calls! Red Shirt Guy raises! (Yahtzee!). He makes it $80 to go. I move the rest of my chips all in. Action ponders for a moment, he looks sick and chucks his cards (later claiming a flush draw). Red Shirt Guy instantly calls, I turn over my pocket 9's, he turns over his pocket kings, and I'm left sucking my thumb in the fetal position.

A few hands later I lost my last $60 at that table with A-K.. I head over the 2-4 table where a couple of my friends already playing and play there for about 30-45 minutes. Still feelling that Tsunami from the NL game, I down another 5 or 6 Coronas, and I'm officially wrecked. I end up getting about $20 back in that game (Not sure quite how), and we head out to find other crap to do.

According to the eyewitness reports I was in the tank and being a complete ass (entirely possible, I act like a complete ass on here when I'm sober).

Anyway, they look for something to eat, and they drop me off at a Taj 2-4 game where I sit for about 45 minutes and break about even.

They come back and drag me out onto the floor where I stumble into a Let It Ride game. Let me tell you this.. There is NOTHING like getting on a rush, while completely wasted, at a Let It Ride table.. Pure jubilation.. In about 30 minutes I wheel $60 into $205, (gambled with a couple green birds at the very end that paid off nicely!) and I'm back up for the trip!

I go back to the room and crash on the floor at around 6-7 am. I wake up 3 hours later (we gotta be out by 12) feeling like somebody stomped on my head.

We skip out onto Harrahs (Friend got a free room).

I actually liked Harrahs poker room, VERY much. They only had 1-2 NL, 2-5 NL, 2-4 Limit, 3-6 Limit and various stud games.. But I was very impressed with everything there.. The felt on the table was nice, there were no flashy distractions. The dealers (although most were very new), we fairly competent. Especially when you compare them to where I just came from.

The Pit Bosses were a riot and tons of fun. The dealers were pleasant. The chips were gorgeous. It was a very nice room. I definently wouldn't hesitate to go back. It had a comfortable feel to it where you just felt at home.

I sat at some 2-4 Saturday afternoon and played until about 10pm. Finished up a little. Saw very few big hands and the cards weren't running good.. A couple mini-rushes here and there but nothing too exciting. Finished up about $30 in 6 hours of play after some up and down swings.

Harrahs had plenty of $40+10 sit and go tournaments running.. I wanted to get in one but kept putting it off, and eventually said forget it.. But when I go back I'm definently going to try one.. Some very weak players were leaving my table to go play in them.. With the quality of the opponents in them, they are definently +EV tourneys

I came back down Sunday morning around 7am. There was only 1 table running of 3-6.. I played that for about 4 hours, cold deck still coming at this table and after being down about $80 halfway through the short session, I hit another mini rush and took some decent pots down to finish up $20.

I really liked Harrah's poker room.. Next time I go I'll probably be there again.

That's the Trip! I'm still feeling it from getting those 9's crushed.. I'm sure it'll go away though after the next beat hits.

Got ran over by cold decks at the limit tables but finished up about 1.5/BB hr (about 16 BB in 11 hrs of low limit).

About typical for the lower end of my variance range.

Holy rake Batman!! That is horrible. Is that 25% standard for a B$M SNG or tournament? I know the taj as 100+15 MTTs running, but 15% is a hell of a lot better than 25%. Wow, are they at least 10 handed, and how long does a B$M SNG last?

sekrah
07-11-2005, 09:29 AM
Actually, Taj's is $100+20 and $50+15.

Not sure how long they last, I didn't get in one. They were 10 handed, and they raised blinds every 15 minutes.

But unlike Taj (pays winner-takes-all), the Harrahs SNG's paid out top 3 spots. $200, $120, and $80.

I love the logic here. This is the "worst" session you've had that you have reported to us, and therefore it's the "lower end of [your] variance range." Brilliant.

FWIW, in the thread where I aggregated your session results (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=cardroom&Number=2770985&Fo rum=,,All_Forums,,&Words=&Searchpage=1&Limit=25&Ma in=2765713&Search=true&where=&Name=3376&daterange= &newerval=&newertype=&olderval=&oldertype=&bodypre v=#Post2770985) the worst session you reported was +$180. Assuming you were playing the biggest limit you stated you played ($3/6) for the longest session you played (16 hours) this works out to 1.88 BB/hour. So this session would actually be significantly lower (at the very least 18% or so, and probably much more) than your previously reported worst session result in terms of BBs won per hour.

You have given an example of your tendency to distort the truth. You were never ahead in the hand never ever <font color="red">ahead </font> ever . You did not suffer any type of beat, you paid someone off.

You need to post in the psychology forum.

You seem to be implying that the automatic shufflers aren't actually shuffling the cards?? Have you never seen an automatic shuffler at a casino before??

Well-taken Sekrah.

Was that from the MS Paint thread I'm guessing?

In case anyone was wondering, the funny pic was from the funniest thread I've ever seen on 2+2...the MSPAINT thread (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Cat=&amp;Number=2759192&amp;page=&amp;view=&amp;sb=5&amp; o=&amp;fpart=23&amp;vc=1)

Okay, not a "bad" beat..

But a bad break, no? Flopping middle set and losing to top set to a guy who called $40 off at the river earlier with Q-10 (Top Pair of Queens w/ 10 Kicker).

sekrah

Yes, but atleast the ones I've seen in the casino are above the table and making some kind of groaning noises to signal that they are working.

The decks drop below the table. There could be a midget on the casino payroll down under there rigging up a big hand.

Also, if the dealer puts the deck into the machine at a crooked angle (which happened 1/2 a dozen times), the machine james up and slows up the game again.

I duno.. It was decent speed when it was working okay

The autoshufflers by Shufflemaster you experianced are very good, but they are problem prone when first installed at times. Also sometimes the choice of cards can gum up the works. They shuffle cards better than any human can, and speed up the game by an average of 6 or more hands per hour.

I have never seen a shufflemaster that wasn't built into the table, except at table games such as blackjack. Was that your prior experiance?
