After reading this thread (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Number=2831630&page=0&view=c ollapsed&sb=5&o=14&fpart=1) there are a lot of posters who are younger than i thought. Since this sort of thread hasn't been done in quite a while, I figured I'd start it up again.

I'm 25, I attended Ohio State for about 4 years and partied way too much, as a result I'm still working on a degree at a smaller school here in Columbus. I quit my job waiting tables in April, and am now 8 tabling the 33s (soon to be the 55s).

Started playing poker a year and a half ago, been playing online for about 6 months. Attending University of Wisconsin: Madison, and considering a law degree. Currently 4-tabling the 10+1's, going to move up 8-tabling gradually. Hoping to use poker to pay for school.

27, I have a BA in Philosophy at University of Dallas. I was a General manager in a door-to-door sales company until about 4 months ago (very very good money at times, very bad money at other times - much like poker.) Started to get really miserable there, however, so I quit as soon as it became apparent I could support myself playing SNGs.

Just turned 23. Eventually I will have a Master of Arts in Political Science to go with my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (concentration Marketing) and Political Science. All from the wonderful University of New Hampshire (don't go, seriously). My Masters should have been done in May, but my thesis is taking a little longer than expected, should have it in Sept now.

At least for the summer I am making my money from poker. Last year I definitely had a few extra drinks from poker, but my main source of income was a graduate assistanship.

In the fall I'm moving to Colorado and probably 8-tabling the 33s-55s (currently 4 on the 22s, building bankroll and waiting for another good Dell sale). Just noticed my heavy use of parentheses in this post, wtf!

36 years old with a Bachelors of Architecture degree from the University of Oregon (actually use my degree in the real world).

Currently quad table the 33s, and get in a set or two each day after work. Make enough from cards to replace the 15% salary deduction that goes into my IRA. Always wonder what the results would be if I got serious about this game and put in the time, but between the married life and sweat equity on the house there just aren't enough hours in the day.

Playing poker exclusively carries a risk that other business ventures do not--a big a** hole in your resume. So, I'm just keeping my practice going with my top clients, friends and family. I'll have it pared down to 1 day a week within 2-3 months. I can always get back my old clients whenever I wish, and if I decide that poker isn't the thing for me, I won't have a hole in the resume.

I'm also an aspiring novelist. I also golf 70-80 rounds per year. I also watch 200-300 films per year. Read about 50 books. Chase women 364/365 days. And still sleep 8 hours a night.

I play poker too much, and live slightly beyond my means. Next year will take this game seriously and plan to be 4 tabling at least the 20s, prolly the 30s (currently 1 or 2 table the 20s whilst playing the odd 30 when running hot).

Short term goal: Support myself and clear some of my debt playing poker - finish my degree (possibly going on to an MBA) - play a few more big MTTs live (inc WSOP 06)

Long term goal: Build a big bankroll, get good, and invest a huge chunk into my own company(s)

Longer term goal: Play poker goot at a high level (im a tourney specialist, wanna branch out into PL/NL ring), splitting my time between being a degenerate gambler and an upstanding businessman running my mini empire.

I like your 50/50 mix and soon to be 75/25 mix, I am 75% work 25% poker now but may move up to closer to 50/50 soon.
No boss for me either here. /images/graemlins/cool.gif

[/ QUOTE ]

No time to eat.

Once you get over the whole fear of dying thing (and assuming you're not seriously injured), beating him is like taking candy from a baby.

i don't even try to conceive what # of sng's is a "reasonable" sample anymore. -17% roi on my first 270 sngs at the 55s. +45% roi on my next 300.

immediate goals: make the empire royal flush club within the next 2 months, build my sample size to 1000 to see if it ends up making any more sense.
