friday night, im playing in my usual 8/16 game. we get a new lady dealer. she starts going on incomprehensibly about how she was just dealing a game and that some kid kept saying he didn't want to hit the jackpot. she slows down and starts to explain the story. she was dealing in the 1-1 $40 NL game. there were 3 on board and there were 2 players in the hand. one of the players was a kid and he kept yelling that he didn't want to hit the jackpot. he ends up hitting the jackpot. i forgot the exact situation but it was something like the kid having KK and his opponet having AQ or the other way around. well it turns out that the kid wasn't 21 and thats why he kept saying he didn't want to hit the jackpot. the kid just won $27,000. the dealer goes on to say that the casino will actually hold the jackpot for him till he turns 21! everyone at my table was like wow thats pretty generous of the casino. she says that the casino took a picture of him and barred him from the casino till he turns 21(duh, its a 21 and over place.she kept repeating the barring part for some reason). i asked her that since the kid wasn't of age, don't they just void the jackpot. shes says no since theres too many other people involved. they don't want to piss off the other players. i also asked if they let the kid cash out his chips that he had on the table and she said no, the casino wll hold his money and he can come back at 21. but if the kid had just lost the hand then he wouldn't of had any money on the table, so i don't know. the dealer was one of those asian lady's who spoke broken english so i don't know if she was saying if the kid was the winner of the hand or the winner of bad beat. i wanted to ask more questions but i refrained because i was in a similiar situation being underage too.

god i hope to god that my table never hits a jackpot. i just wanna play poker, i don't care about some fuking jackpot. this presents a few situations for me. im thinking of ways to handle jackpot situations. whenever i play there, i never carry any form of ID. i leave my drivers license in my car. so if i were to be involved in a jackpot and they say i can come back at 21, how would they know it's me when i come back(how would they id me from the jackpot)?

my money on the table is the 2nd issue. if i were involved in the jackpot, i wouldn't mind just cashing out and never coming back till i was 21. but if they also took the money that i have on the table, that would suck. this makes me not want to play the 20/40 there, i would have too much money on the table.

this is amazing, is this was commerce the jackpot would be voided and you would probably be killed before you leave.

don't worry about hitting the jackpot, as there doesn't seem to be any criminal problems, and they hold your money!

when i was underage at commmerce i hit the jackpot, but i was just a spectator of the hand. still they needed my ID. i showed them my fake, then went to the bathroom and hid every other form of identification in my shoe just to be safe.

they didn't ask for anything else and i got the money.

wow you serious? they just looked at your fake id real quickly and didn't take it to verify it? my friend hit a table share at morongo before. she said that they took everyones id's at the table and left for like an hour to verify the id's.

btw where did you get your fake? is it good quality? feel free to pm me if you don't want to discuss it here.

with the help of a 2+2'er(thx Bulbarainey), me and my friends went up to LA to score some fake id's on alvarado street. we looked at/sampled like 5 different id's and they were all pretty low quality. i don't imagin that they will pass at commerce. i doubt they would even pass at my local Sav-on.

I don't know what their procedures are there but most places take the IDs so they can copy the info off of them to fill out their paper work. I have never known a place to verify them, they do make copies so they have proof that they got IDs for tax forms and stuff.

His "fake" ID was a real, unexpired ID of mine since I am his older brother, and had recently got a new license in the mail. It was close enough where it would look like him on a bad hair day, so he didn't get any trouble.

No Alvarado street ID will pass at Commerce for a jackpot.

By the way the kid saying "I DONT WANT TO WIN A JACKPOT" over and over is a douche. He shouldve shutup and rode through it smoothly and possibly left with 27k.

When I was 19, I visited some firends in So. Cal who were attending Marymount. They brought me downtown, and I scored my first fake ID in the back of a donut shop that doubled as a photo studio. Not more than 2 hours later, It was taken off of me by a clerk at a convience store. Two days before returning east , I bought a 2nd one, this time with my legit info( name, pic etc) and a new SS card(in my name as well) to back it up. I used it for eveything the next two years. Basically the moral, Cali ID's can be a great tool, as long as they aren't used in Cali.

Good Luck hunting for one!

in march '04 i was playing 4-8 hold'em at the palms and i hit a high hand jackpot ($1199) and i was only 18. i was so damn scared while i was sitting there waiting for whoever to bring me my jackpot which took about 30 minutes. when they brought the rack of chips over to my table they gave me a piece of paper that had a list of names and signatures of people who hit the jackpots and i just signed my name, no problem. there wasn't an ID check or anything.

That's cause it was under $1200 so they didnt have to make a W2G.

First off, if the jackpot was 27k then the aces full of kings receives 40% and the quad aces takes 20%. The other 40% is devided among the other players (that do not have a missed blind button). The casino takes your id for tax reasons, i think the form is a 1099. This is one of the reasons why if you play live you should collect withdrawl slips - if the day comes when you'll have to declare 10k in winnings it sure helps if you already have dated receipts for 12k in withdrawls. Cash back player rewards programs - like the oceans 11 racing for dollars promo - are considered rake rebate programs and are not reported no matter how much is cashed out.

Concerning underaged in players winning casino money: this is not a new problem. This is hearsay so take it for whatever you think but i'd consider the dealer who was talking to me about this incident to be pretty knowledgable. Evidently a vegas casino tried to renig on a kid's slots jackpot winnings. They kicked him out and refused to pay. Kid takes them to court, judge says if you take his action you owe the $. Kid gets jackpot and slap on the wrist type fine for being in the casino.

Also, in my experience no IDs are asked for if you cash out in an oceans11 daily tournament - i haven't had a big cashout in one of their larger tournaments.

If you're the underage kid that gets part of a jackpot, take a deep breath and think for a second. You don't need to hand it over instantly, is there a brother/friend you could send back? How much do you think a good fake ID would cost?

Oh and btw CSUF, are you Sam? I'm sure i've played with you but can't put a face to the posts yet.

i have heard about this case and i have seen it mentioned on tv before also. the judge sided with the casino. the kid was denied the jackpot. look up "Kirk Erickson".

i've been thinking about this. whoever i send won't look like me. they will know that it's not me. also most of my friends don't play poker, they would have no concept of what a bad beat jackpot is. i know for sure that if i send someone, they will manage to fuk it up somehow.

thats the thing, i wouldn't mind paying good money for a good fake id. i would happily pay $600 or even more for a quality fake. but i just don't know where to get a fake like that. do you know where i can get one?

Wow, I'm actually really worried about this now. I was just playing at commerce with a fake. Glad they didn't catch me.

I got a decent fake on Alvarado for $110. The only problem with the fake is the font is ever so slightly different. Other than that the colors are a very slightly dimmer than real cali IDs.

It's supposedly scannable, but i Have no way of testing it.

Would they really kick my ass at commerce if they caught me? They IDed me but had no problems with it at all. (the ID is 3 for 3 on attempted uses so far BTW).

Also, how would this fair in Bay Area casinos?

Edit: YES, the ID i used got me past the security guards.

holy sh1t are you serious? when i was there shopping for id's all of them were asking for $60, im guessing $60 is the standard for sh1tty id's.

but there was this one really shady guy. he solicits me for id's and he tells me $60. i ask him if it blacklights and scans, he says no. then as we are walking away, the guy yells at me and says $100 for blacklight and scan. i explicitly told this guy that the id has to black light or else im not buying it. i must of have asked like 20 times if he was sure that it black lights and he kept reassuring me that it does. he gets our info and pictures. 2 hours later, the id's arrive, i bust out my blacklight and of course the thing doesn't black light. then the guy says to me that NO ONE has blacklightable id's here. this guy was shady, i think that the $100 id's he was trying to sell us were the same exact thing as the $60 id's he was offering in the first place. and after we told him we weren't buying the id's he lowers the price to $60 and we still turn him down.

where did you get yours. i just want a id that can get me through the doors at commerce.

Gotta share my stories on this one.

So I was 19 ... few years ago ... my pocket queens were "bad beat" by my friend (over 21)'s AK 3 aces on board.

What *really* happened, is I folded on the turn.. showing my queens when he bet b/c I knew he had 4 aces, had me beat, and I was not thinking about a jackpot. Immediately I realized what was up... said I said call and pushed my chips into the pot. Floorman was called... action was replayed.. went to river.. (since the action was replayed, the hand should have been legitimate) but it was ruled void because I "showed my opponent my cards before the action was over," regardless of the fact that no matter what happened his AK and my QQ would play. (board was AA5A). Jackpot voided...

2nd jackpot story.. After I was 21 I had brought a couple friends to the cardroom to play that night.. one was 20...

of course he hits the jackpot on the $1/2 game he's playing for the first time... He says he gave his ID (that says he's 20.. what a gamble) covered by his social security card w. a paper clip (that they requested).. they took it away for an hour and a half, and came back with his money.

I'm still waiting for a jackpot to make up for the one I, in retrospect, luckily mucked face up... there's no way the card rooms here would have held it for me until I was 21, and I think I've made more than the $2500 I would have gotten in the mean time.

so i was at oceans again tonight. i witnessed the outcome of a jackpot.

i was waiting for my 8/16 game and went to the restroom. while opening the door to walk out, i hear this loud hooting and hollering. it's coming from the first table right infront of the restroom. i walk over to check it out. board is 10 /images/graemlins/heart.gif, 10 /images/graemlins/club.gif, K /images/graemlins/heart.gif, A /images/graemlins/heart.gif, X. Hand 1 is A /images/graemlins/spade.gif, A /images/graemlins/club.gif. Hand 2 is J /images/graemlins/heart.gif, Q /images/graemlins/heart.gif. JACKPOT, aces full of 10's beaten by royal flush. I wanted to see the a exact procedure of the jackpot paperworks so I stuck around. The floorman is there and his got this form that says something like "Jackpot Application Form" or something to that effect, I saw the first word and it said "Jackpot". His going around the table and asking for everyones ID's. He writes down everyones names and also asks for their social security numbers. Then he takes all the ID's and the form to the cage. I followed him. The cage is right next to the 20/40 game so i was just pretending to watch the 20/40 when in fact I was just watching what the floorman was doing. He hands all the ID's and the form to the lady at the cage. Then the lady takes everything and goes into a back office. I would assume that they scan and verify the authenticity of the ID's in the backroom or just make copies for taxes and what not? Anyways, I wanted to follow this thing to the end but unfortunatly I got called for my game.

So basically if your table hits a jackpot then you absolutely NEED to provide a valid ID. It seems that theres just no way around it. This kind of put a damper on my mood. I don't want to be nervous and have to worry about hitting the jackpot everytime I play there. Everytime theres 3 on board, I get really nervous. And infact we had a few almost jackpots today. Fuking jackpots, god i hate. I honestly have no clue what to do if and when my table hits a jackpot. i know the chances are very slim but it's still a very real possibity and i would like to be prepared to deal with these situations. I was thinking just to ditch everything and get the fug outta there. Forget the chips that i have on the table and just get out as fast and as cleanly as possible. But that seems kind of dumb. When i return they'll know me and be like wtf.

You CAN use the "I don't have any ID on me" excuse. They won't hold up everyone else's end of the jackpot, but will probably take your name from your frequent player card to hold it for you when you do return with ID. Not that this will help you get money since you're underaged, but at least the rest of the table won't be pissed at you.

KID: Hi, you may not remember me, but I won a jackpot here a few years ago when I was underage and I was told that the casino would hold it for me until I turned 21....

KID'S VOICE FADES OUT TO HOWLING LAUGHTER FROM ALL STAFF...
