Is this why we just don't mess around with AJo early in tourneys, at least at lower buy-ins (this was a $5+1)? Usually I am worried about stronger hands, but here I met the danger of a bizarre weaker hand. Still I realize that AJ is a very shaky hand in its own right as it's so easily dominated, but the raiser had shown himself to be a very weak player and I thouhgt I could take advantage of the situation. In hindsight, this should be an easy fold preflop simply due to potential action behind me. Maybe a reraise to issolate me against the weakie. But, was this appropriately played postflop? Should I have assumed AK or AQ and run away? Could not believe what caller turned over.

More generically, I've been limping with AJo/s in late position and folding to any EP raise, or any MP raise greater than the min. This sound pretty good? Here I just got a little too sure of myself and got my a$$ handed to me by the nuts.

When you hit top two pair, you're going to have to raise. I think checking the turn behind is good though.

And I fold to any and all raises with AJo, and I certainly fold here. I also raise folded to me in MP/LP, limp in LP behind limpers or limper as standard.

I'll play AJ early under a lot of circumstances, but I won't call a raise.

You're still shocked by what your opponents are doing?

Yeah, on the turn I felt like I had the best hand and had to put more money in; but now that I think about it, I really didn't know my hand was good, and if he's gonna let me catch up to a better ace (the hand I'm most afraid of) I should take the free card. On the river I get the perfect card and just call because I have the girly-girly "something isn't right" alarm going off. But I realize that I need to reraise here. Appreciate your general AJ thoughts too. Thanks!

Yeah...I just like to go light on the agression whatever I do. And yeah...playing such low limits i really forefit the right to be surprised at anything /images/graemlins/laugh.gif.

With AJo, I fold to the preflop raise here.

Aside from that, I'd probably check behind on the turn. There are no real draws on the board, and this seems like one of those way ahead or way behind situations. Since the villian smooth called a bet and a raise on the flop I'd put him on either a weak ace or a big hand like two pair or a set. After making aces up on the river, I'd be trying my best to get it all-in.
