Is it possible to go the entire first hour without seeing a flop? I'm halfway there. Best I had was SB with A, 10 o against a raise from mid position from 15 to 100

LesJ

LOL. .
Just as I finish typing my earlier message I catch big slick suited in mid position. It took two stabs at a blank board to bring the pot down! Up to 1855 after one flop.

Davidross at table 41 with me just doubled up with KK against AQ. He was a little low on chips going in, however. Now at 1940.
Nice hand David!

What do you guys think here?

15 minutes into tournament, Hero is UTG+1 (t 1480)

Hero is dealt: KK

Hero raises to 100
UTG+2 calls
folds to hero

Hero?

It seems like you have 2 heros in that hand!
But, if you are 2nd hero, I would reraise to about 350 and push on any non Ace flop

Last hand before the break, I double up to 2520 with QQ hitting my set on the flop against KK. Just a small raise preflop, I call, and he puts me in on the turn.

Other than that, nothing special happened!

Out much earlier than I anticipated tonight. Had pocket Jacks in early position with blinds at 25/50. Raised to 300, guy in late position pushes back all-in, having my entire stack covered by about 200 chips. I used my time bank and thought way too long before I decided to call. I didn't think he had AA or KK because I would think he would have wanted to induce some action instead of running me off with an all-in. I called and he flipped over KK and the Kings held up. If I had folded I would have had roughly 1500 chips still remaining, but I really put him on a lower-mid pair or drawing hand, not AA or KK. Insta-fold here guys?

was already down to 1400, then doubled up with 99 vs 55 preflop allin, and the rest came through stealing blinds.

I put him on AK so I probably would have called too, but I'm using that overbet move a lot now with big pairs pre-flop or flopped sets post flop. Thinking players do exactly what you did and you get a lot of calls.

Thanks for the response, David. I feel a little better about the call. I just read a post talking about all-ins pre-flop with fives and nines, which also would have made my jacks feel pretty good. I came extremely close to folding, but I really thought he was gonna flip over 10 10, 9 9 , or AK (worst case!).
How is your luck going now?

Although you wouldn't know it tonight, I've been running pretty well. I've had some horrible breaks late in tourneys lately though that could have been some big money,(AK losing to AQ last night and AA losing to KK in the $million) but I've been winning races early on to get into cashing positions.

in retrospect, I think so as well. I just didn't think so when faced with the decision.
First of all, I raised a couple times before within the last 2 orbits, so villain must have a pretty loose read on me.
In addition, there is already my 1200 and the BB (400) in the pot and I would have to call about 4000 to win 11000.
I had no read on Villain, as I only got to the table 2 orbits before this hand came up, and villain wasn't involved in any hands yet, as far as I remember.

So, at the time, I thought I was dominated, which is why I folded, but now, I don't like it because even if I lose, I'm still at about 10000, which is above average at that stage.

burgi

4500 at the break! No cards this last hour! Got reraised a couple times when trying to steal, etc.

Oh well, made the money and now, I'll be in push or fold mode for a while, I guess. Maybe I'll get lucky!

Crispy

Hey burgi i think im the only one left with you. I have about the same stack in chips 10k. Should I be all in or fold mode right now? Blinds 750/1500

burgi
07-10-2005, 02:35 AM
Yeah, I'm now in all in or fold mode (edit: not anymore)

but listen to this:
first hand after the break I get JJ. Guy in front of me raises to 5000, which puts me allin. I call. He shows 99 and i double up to about 10K.

2 hands later: I hold KK and I'm in BB. Guy in front raises to 3000, 1 caller, I reraise allin, both fold. I'm now at about 18K

Next hand: Guy who raised before with 99 and who was the caller on the other hand raises allin (about 6K). I call with AK, he turns over JT and sucks out on me. Oh well.

Now, just a second ago, I pick up KK in SB. BB is big stack who is very aggressive. I raise to 3500, he raises me allin. I call. He flips over 99. We both hit our sets and I'm now at about 18000.

Crazy last couple minutes for me!!!

Hope you are doing just as well.
