Is this a good idea (in terms of maximizing ev) when you get aces the first hand of a low-buyin SNG?

Should I just play straightforward postflop poker or just shove it in preflop?

Any time you can get someone else to put all their chips in the middle with yours preflop when you have AA it's like a really groovy thing.

I haven't played the $6's in a long time (and, you shouldn't be playing them now -- the rake is twice what it is at the $11's and the play at the $11's is virtually the same), but in this case, I think you over-raised. I'd raise to 100-150. If he'd raised to more like 100-200, then a push is better, IMO. With the gigantic all-in after his pretty standard raise of 55, it is too easy for him to get away from his hand preflop, which you don't want. In this case, it worked out well for you, though. (I haven't looked at the actual results for this hand and they are largely irrelevant. Your goal with AA is ALWAYS to get all-in preflop with someone if you can.)

Right, I completely agree.

I'm just wondering if it's worthwhile to push and possibly get all of his chips or slowly extract them with a small raise and bets on the flop/turn/river.

You want the money in as quick as possible, but you don't want him to fold until you get his money. So, the answer depends on the situation. In this case, putting aside that this is a $6 tourney, I don't think it is very likely someone will call a 750 chip raise after only committing 55 chips unless your opponent has KK or sometimes AK. Because of this, I think a smaller re-raise is in order. But, in general you want your opponent to pay as much as possible as soon as possible, without folding.

By your preflop all-in are you trying to get a call here or are you content with picking this pot up preflop? Or did you just figure "it's aces, it's the best hand. If he calls and I lose at least it was the best hand" ? Just wondering. Peace.

I get called making moves like this all the time at the 20s and 30s, I would expect a call first hand with AA... I prefer a caller or too tho.
