View Full Version : Report: Larry Hughes agrees to sign with Cleveland

nbadraft.net is usually pretty solid. They nailed a couple of draft-day trades before they were announced, so I'm gonna bet this one is true.

Lucky bastard. Hughes is so good.
Also, this is on www.realgm.com just to back this up a bit more.
IMO, Lebron + Hughes + Z + and one more FA signee (still have around 6-7 mill after Z and Hughes signs) is a great offseason for the Cavs. Also, watch out for the Lithuanian PG Sarunas Jaskevieus, I bet he'll sign with the Cavs. He pwned the olympics

this would be awesome. it seems hughes with his d is one of the best fits for the cavs.

Huge move for the Cavs. Best move of the off season so far.
Well looks like it's true. espn.com is also reporting it. A great sign if you're a Cavs fan and a bad sign if you're a Knicks fan and want to sign LeBron is 2008.

Not what they needed, but at least they have someone who can play defense now.

ummm....the cavs needed everything and anything. hughes is a huge upgrade from sasho pavlivic, dajaun wagner and uri welsh.

Ummmm.... they needed outside shooting more than anything, not a poor man's Lebron who shoots 28% from three point range. They weren't able to get the guy they needed, so they had to settle for this guy. Granted he's a big improvement of course, he is a great all around player, but he is not what that team needed.

Hughes is a very solid player, but the injury issues he's had are a real concern.

i would rather have gotten someone like joe johnson, but if theyre gonna keep lbj around theyre gonna have to make sure they dont get left out in the cold, so i like this signing. they could have used a better outside shooter tho

no way they could have gotten joe johnson.
they got the best player available and a really good player at that. it is nearly impossible for one player to assess all the needs of the cavs at this time.
Overspending WAS worth it. The Cavs needed to get someone. If Allen, Redd, Hughes, and Joe Johnson were all gone I would agree with signing Simmons to a HUUUUGE deal, just because with LeBron entering free agency in 3 years, they NEEDED to do something. They have cash, so use it. Hughes is a great addition to the Cleveland lineup.
BTW, Joe Johnson is restricted and Pheonix said they will match any offer. Offering JJ a contract would mean tying a team up for 15 days while all the other FA's sign with other teams.

Washington is screwed. Joe Johnson would have been a better fit.
