Hero ??

Villain is certain to auto-raise if I bet and I thought at the time he would auto 3 bet a check raise - he had a post flop aggression of 3.5.

Given his 3-bet range, check/fold right?

I would check fold here. You probably wont get him to fold. And you probably aren't even ahead. He might already have a big pair or better overcards than you ( AK).

I think it's chip spewage to start messing around here.

He is unimproved. Do you think you were ahead preflop? I would check and peel one off. Fold to a bet unimproved on the turn.

six outs and three of them may be unclean getting 7 to 1. check/fold.

Trouble is, if I peal one off and hit an ace, do I like it? His most likely holding is AK.

I am looking for one reason to say call a bet but can now only think of 10 to say check/fold

First I check. Then I fold. If it were live I would casually toss my cards into the muck.

U probably know the reason for this but ill give mine anyway so jasont wont berate me for typing a one word response post. Just kidding JT /images/graemlins/smile.gif

The typical tag wont 3 bet u here with any thing that AQ would beat. Even if ur counting ur overcards as 5 outs ur not getting the right price and thats a generous outs estimate, IMO.

My question calls for a definition of "typical TAG". If this guy would only 3-bet preflop with AA-QQ, AKs, and AK, then I dump this stinker.

I also see players whose numbers fall under the TAG umbrella 3-betting in this position with AA-TT, AKs and AK, and occasionally lighter. In this case, I would be inclined to peel one cheaply on the flop, since you will get to see a turn card for max 1SB in a 7.5SB pot with a hand that is a 4:1 dog. If either an ace or queen falls on the turn, you are about a 2:1 favorite against that range of hands.

I'd go with the check/fold. Any idea on Villain's PFR%? 10-10 or JJ are distinct possibilities if it's a TAG, but yes, you are usually behind here.

I'm a TAG and i 3 bet 10's and J's, in this case you have odds to see the turn. 8.5 small bets if he bets (and he will) you only need 7 to 1 to call with over cards. If he is the type that would only 3 bet AA- JJ and AKs AKo then a fold might be better ev.

The think the question would be more interesting if the TAG was 3-betting because he felt you were raising light from MP2.

he's aggressive. If you check, he'll bet, and you won't know where you are. If you call and the turn brings a Q, does he have a higher over pair? You can bet, he'll raise, you still might not know where you stand. If an Ace hits the turn, does he have AA? AK? you might bet, he can raise with nothing. I like check folding for those reasons.

(In the instance that he will 3-bet this lighter than AA-QQ and AKs/ AK) You will be ahead a good bit of the time an ace or queen falls on the turn, but you wont know if you are good until your show it down. Uncertainty is not a reason to avoid playing the hand if this is true. This of course requires accurate history on the player. Otherwise, this goes in the muck as stated by the original poster.

Exactly, your image at the table can effect the decision greatly...If he sees you as a TAG, dump it. If you've been raising alot pre flop recently, I'd peel one off.
