Hard cap, max salary, blah blah blah. Who cares anymore?

What is this "NHL" of which you speak?

I care, because I like hockey. But the other thing is, I don't mind a lockout like this one, because hopefully if there's serious damage to the NHL, it'll be a nice reminder in the back of the heads of the baseball and football owners and unions. Probably wishful thinking, but still.

Besides, I need hockey to come back so my old o-pee-chee wax packs will hold their value. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Crap, Sportscenter is going to have to make room for highlights in the winter again.

I wish they'd reach an agreement to never play again.

Does that make you the Zdeno Chara (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?statsId=1700) of poker?

this sucks. all it does is take broadcast and coverage away from hoops, a sport which is actually enjoyable and where you can actually see the action.

I'd get angry about all the posts like this but I just realize most people aren't smart enough to enjoy hockey.

Good news for some of you: Both players and management deny there is a deal (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=2102235)

This sucks, not because I have anything against Hockey but because the train wreck that Hockey has become has reached epic proportions. I really wanted to find out what would happen if another season was canceled.

this is great. all it does is take broadcast and coverage away from hoops, a sport which is becoming more boring, sloppy and unwatchable by the minute.

are you kidding? watching a big fat a$$ like Shaq jump like 2 inches to dunk and in the process someone "defending" him barely touches him to draw a foul is sooooo exciting. The excitement builds to an amazing conclusion when Shaq goes to the free-throw line for the extra third point and in dramatic fasion takes his sweat time to take an easy shot... that he just as easily misses.

basketball... fantastic!!!!

He was one of the top 3 defensemen in the league when they actually played a couple decades ago. I thought it was spot on.

You forgot to add a few timeouts just to drag the borefest out a little longer.

Oh yeah, thanks... they really need all 18 timeouts in the last 60 seconds of the game. Only in this sport can you take 60 seconds of playing time and spread it out over a half hour.

Yeah, stoping play when someone breathes on another player, allowing players to shoot many uncontested shots (i.e free throws), and scoring so common that it is common for there to be more than 100 scores in a game. NBA sucks.

If you really wanted to make basketball more exciting, make it more like hocky. Have powerplays, and delayed calls. Eliminate free throws.

find a way to make the end of the games fast.

i dont know anything about basketball, but i love to watch close games from the start of the 4th quarter to about 2-3 minutes to go, then it slows down and is awful.

yea, cuz stopping play every 30 seconds when the puck goes out of bounds, icing, offsides, goalie stoppage etc is soooooo much better.

You have obviously never watched a hockey game in your entire life.

It pretty much is. I have not seen so many home games spawn up, the casino poker rooms filled up as much since the strike started.

Why should sports be anything different than anything else in life? Appealing to the lowest common denominator is a proven recipe for success.

Damn I hate basketball. But at least I am knowledgeable of the game, while you have clearly never watched or played a game of hockey in your life.
