... playing the PLO8 or Stud/8 SNGs on Party? I like the ring games, but was looking at making the switch to the 30+3 SNGs for a while.

If you are, how's the variance? Not terribly concerned about skill levels.

I think they are limit SnGs, which makes them a bit of a crapshoot. If you don't get good hands later on, it will be very hard to win.

PLO8 = much higher variance, but you should know that. I think these games are very soft... equivalent to 10+1 NL SNG's.

OK, appreciate the feedback. O8 in the rings has much lower variance, but I couldn't be sure if that translated to the SnG format.

Another thing to consider is that they go off less frequently than NLHE, thus tougher to multitable or even get consistent games sometimes, making it much harder to make a living off of them.

I dont play omaha - but the stud8 sngs are the softest on party, imho. but there I dotn see how anyone could make a living. For one thing, they are incredibly slow - even slower than limit HE. Also, multi-tabling is hard, obviously - you have to join one, wait for it to fill (about 5-20 mins depending on when you join).. then join the next one, etc.

Plus, i have only once seen a 50+5 go off when i wanted to play. There are plenty of 10s and 30+3s, but thats it (they have a 100+9 always ready but ive never seen more than one [person sitting at it). So you CANT move up heh.
