View Full Version : Wynn Question?

I'm 20 and going to be heading down to vegas in a week for a fraternity meeting. I've played in 21+ cardrooms numerous times before, and only hastled once. Anybody had problems getting carded at the Wynn?

If you got a fake ID you can try I guess. But if you dont have ID and plan to get in on your "good looks" then forget it. You can bet they know that Kappa Sig is holding convention.

Might be worth a shot. Evan never got carded and he looks younger than I do. I got carded like 2 or 3 times my last day at the cage, but never any other days I was there.

Never ID'd me...but if you went to cash out and they asked, that would suck... gl

I'm 23 and have never been carded at the Wynn in several visits.

Thats what I'm afraid of, I have a buddy's expired ID that has worked before at the Bellagio (but that was when they were remodelling), but with the WSOP wrapping up and a pretty big frat convention, it makes me think that they might be a little more suspicious.
Do you think the stakes I play will have any effect on their propensity to card me? If it makes a difference I'll be looking to play between 10-20 and 20-40.

I think this does make a difference. If you are playing these stakes most would make the assumption that you were not some riffraff college student there to drink and play 4/8. If you walk up with a few k in cash wanting to play some poker I doubt you will be carded.

Also in my experience the nicer places tend to card less as long as you don't appear out of place.

Pretty amusing Michael!!

Pat - if you don't know already, Michael works at (I believe 'runs' is the correct word here) the new room at the Wynn.
so he basically now knows to keep an eye for you if he wants.

I don't know about wynn or other rooms...but I know of a guy who is only 19 who has played in a couple of satellites at the WSOP without any problem as well as some ring-games at a couple other places.
His idea about playing in the WSOP main-event satellites was that it would be 'really cool' to play in it...even though there's no chance in hell that he would be able to get any of his money if he happened to qualify and then cash.
I think he wanted to be the only 19-year-old ever to make it into the money at the main-event.
You young'uns crack me up with your logic sometimes!! (I feel old).

Anyway - I would think your chances of successfully pulling this off at the Wynn have been dramatically reduced right about now and you may want to re-think your plan!!

I definitely didn't know anyone from the Wynn's staff posted on 2+2. I am sort of getting a kick out of this since I spent 5 days playing at the Wynn a few weeks ago and I am, as many here know, underage.

I am trying to remember speaking to a floorman named Michael, I think I remember him but there is a very good chance I am mistaken. Either wya, I just felt like posting because I got a kick out of this revelation.

To the OP: If you hadn't posted this you would have been fine, now that you have apparently there's a bounty on your head.

If you do indeed run the room I have to say I think it's run very well. I love the 9-handed tables.

You should be fine. I played on a daily basis at all of the mainstream poker rooms at age 20(this was only last year). I was ID'D about 3 times in the span of almost 2 years now. Whenever I would get carded, I would just tell them no and walk out.

I'm pretty sure I know who you are referring to and his motivation was to get a rack full of $500 tourney chips, not to get a seat. The tourney chips are easily turned into cash.

I concur about the 9 handed tables, excellent. I didn't meet you, although I think I met everyone else in management except Deborah. The experience at the Wynn was excellent, the staff was wonderful with the exception of a slightly over zealous overnight floor on Sunday/Monday morning. He was fair, but a bit heavy handed in personality which is counter productive to develop the room (in all fairness he seemed like a good guy, just a bit heavy handed for a room catering to locals and tourists alike).

Two words of advice:

1) Bring Daniel's heads up games to the rail. Its a HUGE tourist draw

2) Bring the 9/18 games to the rail where the baby NL games are currently held. The numbers of chips on the table will excite wandering tourists, which further feeds the poker economy.

3) Move the baby NL games to the rail closest to the parking lot entrance. There is a huge amount of traffic there, seeing live no limit the moment customers walk in will help encourage new players.

Keep up the good work...

You don't have to worry, I have played at the Wynn nearly every day since its opening and have yet to be carded.

Don't I feel like a dumbass. So Michael, what time do you work? I'll make sure to swing by the Bellagio when you're on the clock.

If it was in the last 3 weeks I probably wasn’t there. A busted appendix kept me playing online 24/7.
The 9 handed tables have been a huge hit, almost everyone seems to love them.

Yea, that’s what I wanted to do. In fact, the first match started on the rail because I set it up for there. Daniel didn’t like the idea, and didn’t think his opponents would either, so it was parked where it now gets played.

There are really only 3 tables on the rail, and the games need to be kept together (limits) to make the room run operationally. Take into account the back 4 corner tables are always the last 4 spread, the way they are set up now works as best as that room can.

Thanks. To the OP, you don’t have anything to worry about. The truth is I walk around every night and snicker at how many underage guys there are playing (or at least look underage). I started playing in casinos when I was underage, so I know how it feels.
The other reason you don’t have anything to worry about is because tomorrow is my last day. Back to playing for a living. I play in the main event on Saturday, so when I win it all there will be a good story that I quit my job the day before the tournament started!

Not that it matters anymore since you resigned, but:

I recall there being 2 NL tables, and 2 4/8 tables on the rail. Am I wrong?

I almost forgot... good luck in the main event, and in your future endeavors. Too bad, I would have liked to meet you in August next time I am at the Wynn.
