Empire 200 NL full ring. I have $188 and Villain (32/8/10) has me covered.

I get Q /images/graemlins/diamond.gif J /images/graemlins/diamond.gif in the SB.

1 fold, Villain calls UTG+1, 3 folds, 1 call, I call, BB checks.

Flop is J /images/graemlins/spade.gif K /images/graemlins/diamond.gif Q /images/graemlins/spade.gif

I check, BB bets $5. Villain calls. 1 fold. I raise to $20. BB folds. Villain raises to $45. I fold.

I figure even though he's aggressive, 3 bets usually mean the goods. I'm way behind to KQ/AT here. Odd, however, that he smoothcalled the first bet. This confused me (well, sorta. I guess he may have well had AT).

Comments?

Maybe once he saw that it was you he was up against he decided to take the pot for himself.

I figure you are at best coinflipping with a very good draw (like Ax/images/graemlins/spade.gif).

I need a pretty compelling reason to checkraise in this spot.

Soah: why is that? My goal by check-raising is to take the pot down immediately. It also gains me a wealth of information if I am 3-bet. Perhaps I am wrong though, please explain further.

This isn't particularly constructive. Do I know you? Did I put a bad beat on you tonight? Are you saying I should have called/raised? Do you have anything insightful to add?
