I have been away from poker for a month, so just checking my lines. I usually don't like investing 100BB with 1 pair, but A K looked likely to me. Good? Bad? Bet more or less on turn?

Villian is unknown.

These two lines, especially at 50NL (home of the weak-tight), means trouble.

Check-fold turn.

I check-fold the turn here because a min-raise in these games usually means 'I have something and its not a draw'

The way Hero has played this hes signed his own death certificate, hes effectively created a line here that gets him stacked every time with a pair. While in some games, or against certain opponents this line is very +EV, at 50NL, I think its very -EV against an unknown.

On the turn, Villain need not define his hand as Hero has bet half of what hes got left, whats the point of him raising here and possibly scaring Hero. I think Villain puts hero on AK or AA here and so his line (should he have a monster) is perfect.

Of course in this instance Villain might of been an idiot with AK or KQ but again, I doubt this is usually the case at 50NL

Thanks jkkk. Maybe you are right and I would agree with you 100% if the board was 8 5 2r but a K-high board puts things into another perspective. I'm not saying I played it right, but either way I think it's a very close call vs. an unknown NL50-player. If I check the turn A K will most likely bet, forcing me off the best hand. Also, checking the turn gives a flush draw a free card. This hand shows exactly how hard it is to play over pairs OOP.

Anyway, he showed Ah Kx and MHIG.
