Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (10 handed) converter (http://www.selachian.com/tools/bisonconverter/hhconverter.cgi)
(I've made some tough second-best hands on this table. UTG+1 has a straightforward 20/5.5 range after 55 hands. He's incredibly aggressive on the flop; has shown down only three hands, two of which were ahead & held up.)
Hero ($47.05)
SB ($106.05)
BB ($38)
UTG ($75.25)
UTG+1 ($63.45)
UTG+2 ($9.7)
MP1 ($65.45)
MP2 ($64.45)
MP3 ($42.25)
CO ($50.5)

Preflop: Hero is Button with Q/images/graemlins/heart.gif, K/images/graemlins/heart.gif. SB posts a blind of $0.25.
1 fold, UTG+1 calls $0.50, 5 folds, Hero raises to $2, 2 folds, UTG+1 calls $1.50.

Flop: ($4.75) A/images/graemlins/heart.gif, J/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, 8/images/graemlins/heart.gif (2 players)
UTG+1 checks, Hero bets $3, UTG+1 raises to $15...

Action? I suspect AJ, 88, or some combo draw that I've got crushed.

if you really think he is aggressive, I see a raise with AJ preflop and definitely with AA, JJ.

88 is possible.

If you feel you have any folding equity against Ace good kicker and you feel that a checkraise can mean something other than 88 on this flop, unlikely in my mind but he might have 9T hearts, then pushing is correct.

aa is out the question with this opponent
jj, maybe-do you think he'd limp up front with it?
88-here's the hand i'd put villian firmly on, with no preflop raise and the call of yours, it screams pocketpair to me, and this is the only one that logically makes this play....

so now that we've put villian on a hand how do we proceed?
i'd call the flop check raise and see what happens on the turn

this is good b/c we might not go broke, HOWEVER> do you think oppenent will fold to a bet when the scare card hits??
if so, it might be more profitable to push there- someone else would have to calculate the EV of that move.

even with the push, if villian has 88 he's not folding......

I felt that AJ and 88 were probably slightly out of his raising range in early position. I also think a push has than 20% fold equity; this guy seems serious about getting his stack in when he bets.

what else do you see checkraising this flop....just aj??

I don't see him checkraising this much with a set, although it is a fairly draw heavy board. I wouldn't be surprised if he's semi bluffing or just attacking what he perceives as you trying to pick the pot up. I would push here. If nothing else, it'll be good for your table image.

Why do you isolate a "tough, aggressive" opponent with KQ?

For value & position, same as I would nearly anybody. My hand is slightly better than his early-position limping range, and he's been playing it straight preflop.

based on your read, I think you're done with the hand.

I don't mind the raise preflop. I could go either way.

But if he's as decent a player as you indicate, he's got a strong hand and is properly pricing you out of any draws. If you call and hit, you have to be fairly certain you'll get the rest of his stack. If he has 2 pair or a set, he may lay down if a heart hits.

If you miss on the turn... how much are you going to forced to call?

The best you hope for is he's on a draw... but I don't think he checkraises with a draw.
