The real question is if this is a good thing or a bad thing?

I remember something about an article in Sports Illustrated. Something like 2+2 got mentioned 12 times.

Something about a poker boom?
Something about new 2+2 books?

Half of them are gimmick accounts. But, really, I think a lot of the newly registered just read about it in Sports Illustrated or whatever. And, the majority of them most likely don't have the fortitude or compassion to stick with it enough to really make an improvement.

I bet lurking has gone up alot more than accounts that are actually contributing. Gotta be alot of 1 post accounts too.

I know a LOT of people that lurk. I'd think the lurker to poster ratio is at least 5-10.

what's shocking is the low numbers, assuming 50 million "players". Anyone seeking poker tips can find this site.

Either people dont know how to use the web or they dont care about improving....or both.

Its a pyramid scam /images/graemlins/grin.gif The first 10 members have made a real killing. Once we get to around 75k you will get an e mail from someone telling you how to become part of the pyramid /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

You tell a friend and he tells a friend and so on and so on and so on and so on....and so on.........and so on...........and so on........

Has the quality of posts declined in relation to the number of users? This may answer some of the Doom-mongerers fears.

It's a lose-lose situation, really.

Clearly it was the Gimmick Accounts We Havent Heard From Lately thread morphing into the Gimmick Accounts tryout thread. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I think it is the result of the poker boom 2 years later. All the new people taking up poker, are finally realizing it's not as easy as it seems on tv and are looking for help.

You don't have to register to look at the threads, but most of them do. Thing is most will not post more than 10 posts here, in their life. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

The next thing is the Big Boom in poker, and showing it on tv. Plus you can't walk into any type of store, and not have all the Hold'em and poker items staring you in the face.
It'll be just another Fad to the majority.

Some of them wander into SSNL and unlearn everything they've ever known about poker. This can only be a good thing. /images/graemlins/grin.gif
