A local baseball reporter got me on this one a few years ago and I regularly follow how this would work.
I bet you that on any given MLB game or slate of games for the night (NL or AL say, or all of the days games) that the winning team will score more runs in one inning than the losing team does in the whole game.
So, if the final score is 6-4 then for me to win the winning team would have to score at least 5 runs in one inning. A shutout obviously goes to me. It's surprising how it works out though I suppose some of the stat kings have the exact numbers.
