They have only scored 2 more runs than they have allowed , and basically are tied for the second best record in baseball. Unreal.

Yeah, it's pissing me off. Quit winning those 1-run games, you fuckers.

Wasn't it the twins in 1987 that won the world series even though they were outscored during the regular season?

Also, weren't the 2003 SF Giants outscored during the regular season?

Note that those are questions, not statements.

It happens, and I concur that it really seems silly when it does happen...

Yes. 786 for, 806 against.

Also, weren't the 2003 SF Giants outscored during the regular season?

No. Not even close.

No, but the 1997 Giants were.

How many teams have made the playoffs with allowing more runs than they scored? How have they done?

Not many. The 97 Giants were one, the 87 Twins were the ones before them. Twins won the WS.

It's really hard to overperform your pythag by that much.

In case you missed it, I see Neyer of ESPN has an article on this exact subject.

This is just evidence of the fact that placing otherwise good athletes in Canada makes them impotent. If the current blue jays were playing in the U.S. they'd likely be sitting on 70 wins going into all star break.

Yeah, but this one doesn't really count. I mean... they had a 3 run lead.

They're still tied for first! Us Nats fans are keeping up hope they'll come out of this slump soon. And we'll still love our team even if they do wind up in last place /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I'm bumping this thread since they are just 2 1/2 back of the WC entering tonight. I don't like their chances against Peavy (they got clobbered by him) tonight but I'm hoping they can take two...after all, they swept the METS on the ROAD no less.

They're like cockroaches, but they are MY cockroaches and god love'em. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Its definately more exciting than any of the past Orioles seasons thats for sure. I cant wait for us to get an owner and a nice stadium. I got tickets to the last game of the season against the Phillies. Could have playoff potential.
