Why don't more people play these versus 9/10 player max tournaments?

Where I play, the Cryptologic sites, they are more popular than the 10 player ones. Very nicely profitable as well but harder to multitable more than a couple.

Well the ten-man SNGs are basically 6-max SNGs with an extra four buyin overlay.

Wouldnt the rake be alot worse?

yeah the rake sux, Pokerroom has 5-max SNGs but they are $10+$1, $20+$2 etc, so you pay more rake in the long run because you can play them twice as fast. Of course playing twice as fast can be a good thing too because the players are not very good.

The rake is the same but the prize pool is less. You only have to acquire 6000 chips instead of 10000 to win and the prize for winning is only slightly less ($45 in a $10 game). Also, on Crypto you get an additional 2 hands per level (12 instead of 10).

All of this tends to mean I can play a lot more postflop and outplay people early on. HU you can usually do a little bit more than just push/push/push. They reward good play and yet the gamblers love the fast action. Nice!

I've only played about 500 of them but my roi is currently at 28% ($50 & $20 games). Thats about 7% higher than my roi was on 10 player ones and the games take less time (+ I feel in control of these games far more than the pushathon that is the bubble in 10 player games).

Harder to multitable for sure, but plenty of benefits.
