Disconnect protect?

Can anyone enlighten me to the phrase 'Disconnect protect' - what is it and how can people use it against you?

Disconnect protect is when one of the players lose connection and he gets to see the showdown without any further bets.
Good for him when he have for example 4 of a kind. He lose further bets, but at least win the pot.

Disconnect protect is almost always misused. People use it when they think they are behind and want to see a showdown without calling further bets. So they win a lot of pots, which they would have folded otherwise.

I only play on VCpoker and they fold you if you are raised while disconnected so it wont addect me yet....I am hoping to pluck the courage up and download maybe PokerStars and give that a whirl, just trying to improve my game before I do.......
