I am making a folder full of 80s songs. Like most of you I play music during poker, and have a folder dedicated to musicians and bands I like. I also have an 80s theme folder, with these songs:

Agent Orange - Living in Darkness
Baltimora - Tarzan Boy
C.W. McCall - Convoy
Cheap Trick - Surrender
Clash - Rock the Casbah
Clash - Tommy Gun
Cyndi Lauper - Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
Europe - The Final Countdown
Jerry Reed - Eastbound and Down (Smokey & the Bandit)
Minor Threat - Minor Threat
Oak Ridge Boys - Elvira
Public Enemy - Fight The Power
Rick Springfield - 867-5309 Jenny
Run DMC - King of Rock
Styx - Mr. Roboto

What essential 80s classics do I need to add to this list? Obviously, I like pretty much all genres of music.

What do you think is the best 80s song?

Pixies - Wave of Mutilation, Debaser

Alphaville - Big in Japan

The Smiths - This Charming Man, Bigmouth Strikes Again

Pet Shop Boys - Suburbia, Rent

Also, if you're really determined about only including 80's songs, I believe Tommy Gun was released in 1978.

Hard to pick a song, but the Pixies really need to be mentioned in this thread. Debaser maybe? Or Where is my Mind?

Siouxie and the Banshees - Israel (live)
Anne Clark - Our Darkness
Sisters of Mercy - Temple of Love
Sisters of Mercy - Alice
Sisters of Mercy - This corrosion
Human League - Being Boiled
The Pixies - Debaser
The Pixies - Where is my mind
The Pixies - Monkey gone to heaven
The Smiths - How soon is now
The Smiths - Bigmouth strikes again
The Smiths - Girlfriend in a coma
Front 242 - Headhunter
Front 242 - Der verfluchte engel

Quite a bit of this is New Wave.
