Anchorage

There is a chance I might have to go there for business. Should I resist or push for going there? I guess this is the best time of year to go. Anyone been/live there?

my neighbors moved there several years ago.

they were outdoorsey people to begin with, but they freaking love it there.

see pics all the time of them hiking, fly fishing, kayaking etc.

seems awesome if you are into those sort of things.

id love to go there for a couple of years.

I grew up in Alaska. Anchorage is incredibly beautiful in the summer. I'd go. It's a unique opportunity that you may not have again.

its a small not much of anything city. but in summer you have twenty hours of daylight, opposite in winter so beware.
there are wonderful places to go if you get a ways out of town. best spots you have to fly to. but the town has great walking and bike trails. it is really a great place if you dont have to stay year round. alaska is a palce to expewrience. anyone that doesnt is missing out on a paert of life.

That's a good place. Another amazing place is Moose's Tooth restaurant. It's an institution in Anchorage.

I spent ten days in Anchorage last summer with my immediate family, visiting relatives. It's a "real" city with close access to beautiful, outdoor activities. Also, as Ray Zee mentioned, within the city itself is an amazing system of ped/bike trails.

Take the opportunity to go, especially if it is during the warm, sunlit months.

I used to make sure to make it to Moose's Tooth every time I visted my folks when they lived up there.

Anchorage the town itself is weird. Tons of strip malls. If you're familiar with the Seattle area, it reminded me a lot of Lynnwood. However, it's all made up for by the fact that you're 30 minutes away from tons just amazing outdoor stuff.

I am familiar; that's a good comparison. I agree, a lot of what makes Anchorage special is the surrounding outdoor activities in the Chugach Mountains, around Portage Glacier and off to Seward.
