I golf, you always hear about the best player yet to win a major.

Or in basketball, the Karl Malone and Charles Barkleys

Or in Football, the Dan Marinos.

Great players, but yet to win a big one.

So wit that in mind, Who is the best current, or all time play yet to win a Bracelet of any kind at the WSOP?

I know they could ahve won other tourneys, but this is the big one.

My vote of best player today yet to win one - Marcel Luske.

He has come close, and I think his finished of 14th and 10th in the Main Event last year are laregely overshadowed by Harringtons, but almost as equally impressive.

That and he finished 2nd in the big buy in Stud event last year.

edit : doh I misread your post

I would say Dustin Woolfe, he's new to the WSOP but has 2 final tables this year and seems to be a good tournament player but just hasn't had the luck at the end /images/graemlins/grin.gif

No one will agree with me but to make TWO in the first half of your first year at the world series of poker is insanely good. he finished fourth and seventh

A week ago I'd have said Jennifer Tilly, but now I guess I'd go with Joe Cassidy.

I agree with Lindgren/Luske.

Don't forget about Alan Goehring

That being said comparing good players who haven't won a braclet with good players that haven't won an NBA title (among others) isn't exacly analogous as virtually every poker player we consider great has won a bracelet (at LEAST one) already since there's obviously more chances.

He does have a ton of final tables, and was player of the year (cardplayer) in 2003, yet has no braclets.
Jett gets my vote.

Even if he won a WSOP event he wouldn't have a bracelet after his next trip to a pawn shop.

I think it's Lindgren in NLHE tournies. It also depends if you call 'best' to be the best well-rounded player or the best in NLHE. If that's the case I have no idea.

Paul Phillips. Just ask him:

"Top Ten: Daniel Negreanu, Scotty Nguyen, John Juanda, Phil Ivey, Doyle Brunson, Layne Flack, Gus Hansen, Can Kim Hua, Meng La, me."

(He was specifically talking about NLH tourney players)

I was thinking Lindgren when I first read this, but Gigabet is a pretty damn good answer.

I think we should base this on their record at the WSOP ONLY.

Chip Jett and Erick Lindgren, each had only 5 final tables at the WSOP, surely there are some folks with a lot longer/better record out there.

Albeit I am using The Hendon Mob Poker Database to figure it out:

Erick Lindgren example @ http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/player.php?a=r&n=534

Probably someone much much older deserves this honor, sure Erick and Chip are great players, but TV has clouded our minds.

Jennifer T. you had to go and WIN this year! /images/graemlins/grin.gif
Non-followers of poker, will be stunned when she's shown winning on ESPN, I suppose.

Dusty is nowhere close, although i respect his skill. Pretty sure Ted Forrest WON 3 events his first World series, and Moneymaker won his first ever event. 2 final tables do not come CLOSE to equating.
