Woo! You can win a car! It's a free entry! Oh, all you have to do is play 10k RAKED hands in a month.

Seriously, what's the tourney gonna be like if it's FULL of multi-tablers? We can get individual players sponsored by PokerEdge or GT+ or whatever.

It'll be just like Nascar. (I'll put a GT+ sticker on my forehead for $5.)

The taxes on that car would be so ridiculous. Hope the person who's lucky enough to win the car is strapped.

I'd sell the car before I ever got it, especially since I don't want to pay to get it from vegas to boston

I think it might be kinda fun to drive it from Vegas to Denver :-)

I can't find where you go to register for the tournament - does anybody know? (I don't actually care so much about playing but I saw somewhere it's supposed to tell you how many raked hands you've played since 6/25, and I want to use it to keep up with my sessions).

I tried that - it just says that you haven't met the requirements.

Anyway, it's under multitable tournaments - special.

When Empire did (does still maybe) a Porsche tournament for VIP, you could choose to take the car or $40,000. A Zoo'er won it once and took the loot.

The taxes would be in the $30-$35K range. That is more than I want to pay for any car.

surely that car is worth more than $40k ?

Or are Porsches dirt cheap in the US?

Most porsches go for around 90k+ in the US. The taxes aren't the full value of the car though hence the 30k number.

I wonder if you wouldn't be better off taking the car and selling it.

Bet365 Poker are also running a pretty sweet freeroll tournament this summer. No entry requirement and $20,000 up for grabs.

It's held every Saturday in July, and replaces their regular weekly $5,000 freeroll. The winner takes down $2,500. Not bad to get a bankroll started. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I believe the empire was a boxster which is more like a 50K car.

Depending where you live, selling a 90K car can be a bit of work. I am guessing you are going to have pay the local porsche dealership to help you out. And you will still need to pay the income taxes and most likely the sales tax/registration fee. You will still make money but it will be a less than if they just gave you the cash.

You could sell it easily on ebay...

I'm sure there would be 100's of people waiting to bid on your Porsche if they could get it 10k below retail.

I think you guys are putting the cart before the horse (in fact I know you are). Win the car and THEN worry about the 'problem' of having won it. lol

You aren't as cool as the guy on here who used his poker winnings to buy a Crossfire. (45Kish)

If you read Party's terms it says that sales tax is included for the state so it's 100% free

wmspringer

The sales tax, yes, but you still have to pay income tax on it, so be sure to put some money aside for that..

Yeah a $90k Porsche is considered income, so you'd have to pay income tax as if you had an extra job that payed you $90k salary.

Winning a $90k car is no different than winning $90k in a poker tournament as far as the IRS is concerned.

How do you find out how many hands you have so far in the month? (I don't just play HE so don't tell me to use PT...)

I don't know. You see a lot of high priced cars on ebay but most are sold by dealers. Sure if you discount it enough, it will sell but all along the line you are losing money. You are not going to lose money here but I have a feeling you would be better off winning an 75K tournament than a 95K tournament if you don't want to keep the car. It is interesting how they say they pay the sales tax but it sounds to me like they pay nevada tax which may or may not be less than than your home state. I also like how they pick the color for you. I bet dark olive is popular:)

Lets be clear it would still be great problem to have but I would be a lot more excited about 95K to buy the car of my dreams or even just straight cash.
