depends on if you own your car and license. if you do, ive heard it can be pretty profitable. if not it sucks, you have to rent a car/license (the license is expensive). no idea how the pay works.

I believe that a cabbie in NYC makes about $20k a year after renting the car and license. You can buy your own license, they are a couple of hundred grand I believe (dont quote me) and you can get a loan to buy one with the license as collateral and I understand they increase in value fairly well as the number of licenses issued is tightly controlled. I have no idea how much this adds to your income but you end up with the license or the profit when you decide to sell it assuming it has increased in value.
