memorize the steps and work your way from the top down
I did it as a kid - I loved how some guys would try to get me by taking 5 minutes to mix it up - solves the same either way, baby.

def true. however the way i learned it was to do the top, then the bottom, then the middle. anybody have some fast times in which they solved it? my best is a min and 58 sec.

i always took the stickers off and put em back color coded =/

i had to take it apart and put it back together, i used to get pissed when people peeled my stickers off as it made them look like crap. taking it apart is definitely the way to go

the cube i have now is about to break. i've heard that they explode when u throw them against a wall. so after i do this i will know what the inside looks like. but from some that does know what the inside looks like, how does the cube work? i can't figure it out

Grab a flathead screwdriver and ply up one of the side pieces. It shouldn't hurt the cube much and will offer you a much better explaination than any of us can offer. You can take the whole thing apart and put it back together without much trouble.
