I saw a thread from around January about soaring eagle moving their card room across the street and adding a lot of tables and spreading more games. Is there any new news about when this will happen? ps how is the 10-20 game there? i heard it was pretty tight compared to other places because 10-20 is the highest limit they currently spread. Thanks

I live about an hour from SE, haven't been there in about 6 weeks simply because the 10-20 game is so tight it is much more worthwhile to play online or drive to chicago/detroit. The last 4 times I went up I ended up moving to 6-12$ because the pots were larger.

If the expansion has occured it would have to have been very recently.

the 10-20 game is that bad huh? do you think 6-12 would be more profitable than the 10-20? I know the 3-6 is unbelievably loose but the rake is 10% $5 max which really hurts its profitability.

Except for rare occasions of a drunken blackjack player stumbling into the pokerroom the 10-20 is usually very tight, I've made a consistent profit off of the few loose spots. And for the most part the tight players are not good, just tight.

The 6-12 game is usually good with a few maniacs and a few calling stations, most pots are raised preflop with 3-6 players taking the flop. I have had some very good sessions in it, but I prefer to play higher.

I was up at the Eagle today, and to the best of my knowledge the card room is staying put (it is about 20+ tables already anyway). As for the tightness of 10-20, I can't really say much because I play lower, but to the best of my knowledge they were only spreading one (maybe two) tables of 10-20. A guy sat down at my 3-6 game while waiting for 10-20 and played for a little over two hours (from about 4-6PM) without getting called. So, not only is it tight (allegedly), but apparently it's not too easy to get into.

Also, the 3-6 games there are as loose as I've played anywhere, but even with getting total junk for cards I still finished a 6 hour session ahead about 6 BB. So even with the maniacs and the rake (which I don't think is $5 max, but could be) the game is still beatable.

The cardroom closed for about 18 months and was reopened with all of the old floorstaff gone or demoted to dealers, about 1/2 of the old dealers are still working. The floorstaff is now from the casino floor and are anything but customer service oriented. All of the big players from the room have moved to greektown, and the old 5-10 PLO game, the 15-30 O/8 and the occasional 20-40 are long gone. Replaced by table after table of 3-6$ WPT kids. Also the comp has dropped to a dollar an hour, meaning you have to play for most a day just to try and choke their awful buffet food down.

On a good note, I don't think Soaring Eagle has been fined for removing aces from the blackjack decks this year.

Hilarious stuff.
When they start removing aces from the poker decks, then I'll switch casinos.

How's the action at Greektown?

I play at Motor City mostly, and from what i've seen $10/20 is filled with rich fish that are bored of $5/10. I think Casino Windsor also spreads a $10 game.

Soaring Eagle is having a tournament on the 8th at 10:00 a.m. Registration starts on the 7th at 9:00 a.m. The pokerinmichigan.com newsletter said it was $165.00 buy in and 180 players. The tournaments here at St. Ignace are getting awful. Looking forward to a change.
