These are my choices for top posters of 2002-2003. Please forgive me if these guys have been around longer. I like these guys because though their locales/limits are different, they post in the Dynasty/Clarky mold: concise, to the point, and interesting:

(In no particular order):

1)Majorkong
2)J.A. Sucker
3)Ulysses
4)Homer J. Simpson
5)Jeffage

These five guys, along with a litany of regulars, have helped vastly improve my game. Thanks to them (you) all!

I'm not sure that I'm deserving of being part of such a list, but I appreciate the compliment nonetheless! /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

Good luck with your trip to Vegas...

Thank you DanS. I would certainly recommend that you add JTG51 to your list as well (I think he's new).

Good call majorkong. I was choosing between him, bernie, and astroglide to round out the top 5.

Wow, thanks majorkong. I'm always a little unsure how well my posts are received. Thanks for the encouragement.

Thanks Dan. Just proves what I've always thought. Make 700+ posts in 5 months and you'll get noticed. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Thanks for the kind words Jeff.

Are you still planning a trip to Foxwoods? I think you mentioned something a few months ago about coming up sometime soon.

My top 5 are (for improving your game):

1. mike l.--he's given so much advice on image plays and reading opponents.
2. ulysses--he lives and breathes the game. He may agonize too much, but there's something to be learned in every post.
3. clarkmeister--always has excellent points and criticizes without flaming.
4. Josh W.--writes a good post and you can learn a lot from what he's saying.
5. Pokerbabe--How can I leave her out? Always entertaining.

LGPG! /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

I am certainly going to try to get there. Work has been busy as hell lately, but I have like 13 vacation days to use....my hope is to just take a friday off and head down on a Thursday after work. I'm looking for a CHEAP hotel within 15 mins from there but I really do wanna just stay there (as long as its not too bad of a rip) bc I'm thinking of just amtraking it down since I'm usually dead tired after work. Anyone know how that works and if there are busses from the nearest train station...a carless trip would be preferable (though if I can talk my buddy into it, we can drive together). I'll keep you posted...meanwhile I'll be splashing some red around in the 10-20 Taj game over Presidents Day Weekend =).

Dan,

Thanks for putting me on the list. I definitely echo Homer's sentiments!

I'd also add that the best thing about my posts is usually what you learn from the responses astroglide, JA Sucker, JTG51, mike l (just to name a few of the best and more prolific responders) and others give. They often immediately come up with the correct play when I post one of my frequent blunders. Thanks to everyone who responds and posts here - that's how we all improve!

Thanks, mike, and thanks for a number of valuable responses to my posts. This forum is in large part responsible for me starting to agonize less and be more confident about a lot of my plays - though I still have a ways to go! /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

Discussing hands here has really helped my game. As I mentioned in another response, you'll learn the most from my threads by reading all the responses from much stronger and more experienced players.

To all the newer players like myself - I strongly recommend posting here and don't be embarrassed to post mistakes. I've been raked over the coals a few times for mistakes that I didn't realize were quite as idiotic as they were, but I'd much rather be called an idiot here than make the same mistake again at the cardroom.

Unfortunately, I've got no idea if you can find a cheap hotel within 15 minutes. Pretty much the only things within 15 minutes are Mohegan Sun, and trees. They don't call it Foxwoods for nothing. The hotels inside the casino are definitely not cheap.

I don't know anything about the train situation either. I don't really live close enough to know the area well.

Send me a message when you are ready to come up, I'll try to look into it for you.

I couldn't agree more Ulysses. I think there's some number of posters that only post a hand that they think will impress everyone. I wouldn't be surprised if a bunch of people think I'm an idiot (and I very well may be /forums/images/icons/smile.gif) since almost all of the hands I post are ones that I think I butchered.

If you are embarassed to post hands you played poorly, you aren't getting nearly enough out of this forum.

Hi Dan:

There are so many good posters on these forums it is simply amazing. We never thought that they would be as successful as they have become, and the qulity of information exchange has been top notch and it seem to only improve.

In fact, in the beginning, we weren't even sure we would attract anyone to the site. Also, for your information, www.twoplustwo.com (http://www.twoplustwo.com) was the idea of Jessica Vecchione who use to do marketing work for us.

Best wishes,
Mason

I agree. Reading the different forums has not only improved my poker but also my sports/race betting and stock market investments. To name just a few, Wild Bill and Clarkmeister(Other Gambling)Poker Babe (stocks), Al Schoonmaker (Psychology) and a lot of excellent Mid,High Stakes posters such as Jim Brier, Andy, Skp, and many others who have really been very informative. The cream of the crop is of course the trio of MM, DS and RZ.

I never ceased to be amazed by the quality of the help I receive here. The thought and detail of many posts make me wonder at the amount of time and effort that must go into creating them.
