Things are going from bad to worse in America but you would not know this from what the conservative side is claiming all over the media - or here.

But it is a hopeful sign that when conservatives in this forum are starting to have second thoughts about the official line. Check it out. (I have paraphrased everything but I believe that all the descriptions of positions are accurate and honest.)

Environment
OFFICIAL LINE : There is nothing to worry about! Oil is our friend! We should start drilling Alaska, the Statue of Liberty and the White House lawn, if necessary. All the talk about global warming and an energy crisis is coming from pinko tree-hugging liberals.
Wacki : "I don't think so!" (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Board=politics&Number=255991 0&Forum=,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,All_Forums,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,&Words=&Searchpage=23&Limit=25&Mai n=2559910&Search=true&where=&Name=7066&daterange=& newerval=&newertype=&olderval=&oldertype=&bodyprev =#Post2559910)

Iraq
OFFICIAL LINE : The war is going great.
Thirteen 2+2 posters : "We don't think so! (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Number=2583924&page=101&view =expanded&sb=6&o=&fpart=1) (Not any more we don't.)"

OFFICIAL LINE : We must not set a time table for leaving.
Felix Nietsche : I don't think so !" (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Number=2717764&page=114&view =expanded&sb=6&o=&fpart=)

Economics
OFFICIAL LINE : You never had it better, y'all!
Censored : ""I'm starting to worry about the shrinking middle class!" (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Number=2737021&page=114&view =expanded&sb=6&o=&fpart=) "

Euthanasia
OFFICIAL LINE : Terri Schiavo was a living human being. Removing the tubes was murder. The liberals killed her!
Felix Nietsche : "I don't think so !" (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Number=2645874&page=&view=&s b=5&o=&vc=1)

Sex
OFFICIAL LINE : The Church is right! Sex education is a sin. Selling condoms to minors must not be allowed. Abstinence is the way to go!
CHORUS OF A HUNDRED OTHER OTHER TOPICS POSTERS : "We don't think so!"

Liberties
OFFICIAL LINE : The Bush administration is the best guarantor of freedom and individual rights. It's only those damn liberals that wanna encroach, weaken and crush yer liberties!

Just 8 months ago there was a nationwide Republican obliteration of the Democrats at the voting booths, the likes of which I've never seen.

Here, let me refresh your memory: http://www.usatoday.com/news/politicselections/vote2004/countymap.htm

Now, you think that using 2+2 posts as a sample size that the millions upon millions of votes that sent countless Dems home to mommy have suddenly changed their mind on how they want their government run?

Or are your singling out 2+2 conservatives, their minds having been quickly changed by the numerous liberals here that plagiarize OP-eds from Marxist blogs such as DailyKos etc?

If it was a quiz based on facts and not rhetoric I'd take that bet.

Have you read his other posts? Even when responding to poker questions he somehow turns them into displays of childish petulance.

We should start drilling ... the White House lawn

Sounds like a much better use for that property than the present.

Yeah, a bunch of anonymous wackos on the internet say you're wrong, so therefore it must be true.

The presidential performance wasn't even close to the performance in Congress. Congressional seats tend not to change hands. We could see a republican majority in congress for the next 60 years, just as it was with the democrats from the 30's to 1994.

I suppose, if I looked for every post where I a mostly liberal poster had a though of thier own that disagreed with the party line I could make a similair post.

Bingo. However, I do like this post by Cyrus. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif Too many people are conforming to the platforms, rather than creating their own beliefs. People from each side need to find some common ground.

Hint Hint

By "nationwide" and "Republican" I did not mean just the Presidential election, but it certainly was included

The Republicans picked up 4 seats in this last election cycle; all of their gains in the House were due to the Texas redistricting (where the Republicans were able to switch 5 seats to their column).

So, I would say the margins in the House was relatively narrow.

Not a bad post Cyrus.

You are however mistaken if you think I am conservative.

I am essentially laissez-faire on both economics AND on social matters, and it's hard to get more truly liberal than that. At any rate I guess that's more liberal than you or any of our other esteemed "liberal" posters on this board;-) /images/graemlins/cool.gif

Knowing what the word liberal actually means immediately makes you one of the most informed posters here.

I don’t know if that says more about you, or this forum, though.
