View Full Version : Looking for reasonably priced UK chips (2500ish)

I'm looking at hosting some MTTs in the near future, expecting probably 20-30 people. I have a couple of questions, if anyone could help;

1) Would 2500 chips be enough as long as the denominations/structure were worked out correctly? I'm pretty sure this wouldn't be a problem, but if anyone has tried this and it lead to disaster, advice would be appreciated.

2) Could anyone recommend a cheap UK supplier of suitable chips? Not expecting casino quality, but hopefully something people couldn't grab out of the nearest pound shop to contaminate my supply! Cost is an issue, as I'm footing the bill for this this myself at the moment.

Many thanks for any advice offered.

Hi, Juff.

First, I think 2500 chips would be more than enough, assuming sensibly worked-out denominations. I have only 500 and can easily run 10 player tournaments.

In terms of a UK supplier, I found drinkstuff.com to be cheap (for the UK) and very prompt with deliveries. I am not affiliated with them in any way, but I was a satisfied customer. They don't sell anything much in clay, and I suspect most of their market is cheap dice chips. But it sounds like security is an issue for you -- take a look at their customized chip service. Get the sample pack for 1 pound and there'll be a custom example in there.

I run a monthly tournament of between 25 and 35 people and I have only 1300 chips so 2500 will be more than enough.

I bought 9g Kardwell "Las Vegas" chips. Not as nice as chipco etc but MUCH nicer than the crappy plastic suited chips and much less common; best value for money chips IMO. Also, denominations are number only, no $ symbols. I bought from The Poker Player (http://www.thepokerplayer.co.uk/view_product.php?product=LVC500&PHPSESSID=d5dcf312 fcef355b32f03d970ed49d00) but unfortunately they no longer stock due to lack of demand. Try PokerShopping.co.uk (http://www.pokershopping.co.uk/50pc-clay-las-vegas-poker-chip_p56.html) instead, same chips but unfortunately more expensive. If you want 2,500 I'm guessing you might be able to negotiate the PokerShopping price down.

Happy tourneys,
RH

I've logged many hours in home games with these chips and like them as well, sometimes the labels fall off but it is a rarity, they take a good beating.

You can get loads of these for a decent price on Ebay too, most likely it will be from the US however.
