I'm fairly new to the board here, so I'm not sure if this is commonplace or what. Personally, I think it's bullsh*t and was looking for a few opinions. 2+2ers will go unnamed.

I have witnessed much worse. I don't think this table talk influenced any decisions made during this play, its still questionable.

I had a guy talk about his hand (that he folded) while a hand was still in play, I went all in on the flop and he was like "damn it I folded the boat". Luckily I didn't have many more chips (like $100 more), so villian had to call. I told the guy not to talk about the hand while it's in play and he got all pissy. I almost reported him

yeah, people tend to freak out whenever i remind them of the rules. in fact, i've never -- not once -- had someone respond "oh, i didn't realize it was against the rules, sorry." it's almost been more like "f--- you, if you dont like it report me, b---h!"

sigh.

Thanks for the responses, guys. I agree, it can be much worse than this.

As I had stated I am fairly new here and wondered if this was considered acceptable within the 2+2 circle, assuming both players involved knew I was also on 2+2. Anyone?

Whether or not they know this is totally irrelevant IMO, although it looks like only one of them did something wrong. He/she should know better.
This kind of thing gets under my skin.

I might be reading this out of context, but I think 2+2er#1 wasn't reading DarrenX for KK, but rather 2+2er#2.

Let's look at it this way:

2+2er#2 raises UTG+1
MP calls and Darren Pushes.
2+2er#2 goes into the tank facing all-in decision.

Chat goes:

2+2er#1: KK = Did you raise UTG with KK and worried about Ax push? Not referring to Darren's hand. This is a reasonable read on a UTG raise.

2+2er#2: nah = No

2+2er#2: need to gamble = I'm card dead

2+2er#2: need chips = Gamb00l!!!

I agree that there is too much chat in general about hands inplay but I think this case may be questionable.

What are you accusing him of doing, exactly? Coaching? If so, I agree, and I'd report him.

Table chat is fine, after a hand is over.

During a hand, it's one hand one player.

He obviously wasn't giving away his own hand in this case, but he was giving away the information that HE didn't have any Kings. That information was actually useful to the KQ guy in this case, because he wanted his King to be live. I would even guess that the first 2+2er had one ace, which would lead him to believe that the all in guy had Kings, and not Aces. However you read his guess, it is information available to the 2nd 2+2er, and it isn't fair.

Just because things worked out with justice doesn't mean you shouldn't report. This is probably a minor offence and won't affect the player(s) immediately, but it should stop them from doing it again because repeat offenders are who the pokersites often go after.

Wouldn't 2+2#1 have then been more likely to say "KK?" if he was guessing at 2+2#2's cards? Even if #1 were guessing at #2's cards, it still gives out the information that #1 doesn't have any Kings.

Plus, the "Nah" reply seems to me to mean "No, he probably doesn't have KK, because I've got a King."

Although your scenario is possible, it's a bad thing to discuss cards during a hand. Let the poker site handle it; maybe this will happen a bit less often in the future.

I do the same thing, just try to be polite and say, "Don't talk about your hand while one is in play"

You should report him. At least they will warn him. (if it's PokerStars anyway)

Looked like he put you on a big hand and was coaching his friend.

So many people are new to poker, that most don't know the ettiquette. And some that do wont give a sh*t.
