Hey all,
Im debating over whether to buy a custom order from here Pokerchips (http://www.pokerchips.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=CCE). In a plain style (no custom logos) with spotted edges particularly like the custom ones number 1, 5, and 7. What does anyone think of these types of chips- are they the "real deal" in terms of feel and sound. I have a set of those awful dice type chips that are sold by the bucketfull.

I was also contemplating the ones on nevada jacks- i love the looks of the edge spots and can imagine they are great when stacked up. Does anyone think that the $ numbers on the chips make them look a touch tacky?? i was tempted to have a mix of these ones NevadaJs (http://www.nevadajacks.net/mall/martini_club.htm) . They would look great.

Any comments appreciated- especially if you have any of these chips as i live in the uk so dont want to get a rubbish set of chips!!

Cheers. Ric.

I really like the look of the clay chips on pokerchips.com. I like the look of the clay without labels because the labels seem to detract from the rich color and texture of the clay. It would be interesting to see if eventually label suppliers come up with transparent labels (transparent except for the design--as opposed to a white background).

I don't know why, but if I ever get higher end chips, I would prefer clay chips for tournament style games and ceramic for cash games.

My poker circle usually plays the tournament format- 3000 starting chips in denomations of 25(8), 100(8) and 500(8) to keep things simple. Blinds at 25-50 then progress every 15 mins. If that continued- i may be restricted in buying a range of the nevada jack type chips as the values would be different to what they are representing.

I really like the clay chips.

Unless you're in a hurry, I'd sign up at chiptalk (www.chiptalk.net) . Posters there often sponsor group chip buys, where you can get premium chips at a discounted price.

Thanks, Josh.

Does anyone have pics of clay chips with the transparent labels? I'm just curious. Thanks.

I used clear labels for my chips, but I sprayed them with a matte protectant, so the "clear" sections look more like scotch tape than glass.

My set is from PokerChips.com, and I love them. They look, feel, sound, and handle just like "real" casino chips.

Make sure you're won't regret not getting your own custom chips...

I spent a lot of cash on some chips and ended up ordering my own custom set from pokerchips.com.

hmmm...that link doesn't seem to work. go to marketplace --> holdempoker.com special offers---> pharaoh's special offer (or something like that).

the pharaoh's are the same quality as the landmarks...same colors...different inlays. a little lower price, and not available for another month or so. but oh oh oh so sweet.
