High Fidelity

I can't really think of any good ones besides hf.

Annie Hall: Awesome histerical movie, however some people dispise Woody Allen. If he isn't your thing, stay away.

Let me think of some more.

Can't believe I forgot the graduate, and I just watched that tonight. I might have a thread about that in the next day or so

One of my favorites is When Harry Met Sally. I'll take a look at AH and HF on my online rental.

Rushmore is a good one and it is a comedy with romantic elements, same with bottle rocket in that wes anderson vein

oh by the way everyone who posts in this thread is a gay

Chairman Wood

oh and I think the movie that kind of defines the genre of romantic comedy is "Groundhog Day." However, that may not be as good to rent as it is on cable everyother week or so and your friend or whatever may have seen it several times

Love Actually is ultra cheesy but has some good moments

my favorite romantic comedy/chick flick of all time is Bridget Jones's Diary

don't bother with the sequel is horrible.

Re-Animator. There's a love scene in that one that's to die for.

I'm somewhat disappointed in OOT that no one has suggested a porno yet.

If you are going to watch just one Woody Allen movie this is the one. Diane Keaton was fantastic as Annie. Favorite scence(s) was comparing dinner at Annie's parents with dinner at Woody's charecter's parents.

I really enjoyed "Love Actually." "Meet Joe Black" isn't terrible. "Miss Congeniality" isn't really a romantic comedy but it is a fairly enjoyable chick flick if you're also looking at those.

Intolerable Cruelty with George Clooney is real good and it will keep the women happy.

Since most Romantic Comedies are so dam predictable they usually suck but this one has an intresting story that will keep you guessing.

Shakespeare in Love. More romantic than comedy, but has comedy.

Love Actually and Hitch were the first two that came to mind. Eternal Sunshine is less of the stereotypical Romantic Comedy, but is VERY, VERY good.

A personal favorite is "How to lose a guy in 10 days", but that might be because its the movie I went to see on my first date with my eventual wife.

People saying Love actually...it never really struck me as much of a comedy. I liked it, but comedy?

Haha. I'm loving how the Graduate is included, seeing as it's brilliant and probably on my top ten. However, despite being wickedly funny throughout, it's a little bit of a downer at the end for a date, considering it suggests that their romantic relationship is doomed or at least tainted forever.

This one might be good to watch with her mom if you want to nail her, though.

The Princess Bride might be too good of a movie to call it merely a romantic comedy, but it'd get my vote. It's one of the best movies. Period.

I'm a sucker for Meg Ryan, so I guess I'd say anything with her in it. To amend someone else's post, I'll say:

When Harry Got Mail Versus The Volcano In Seattle.

There's a bit of fantasy in these films too. There is no way in hell that Billy Crystal or Tom Hanks could score a chick like Meg Ryan. If anyone ever really had a face like a baked potato, it's one of those two.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I'll cue some in on my online rental account. I did see 10 days... and liked it. Don't think I've seen the Graduate (I'm bad with movie retention though).

I love Meg too. We go way back to her days as Betsy on ATWT.

I remember seeing the preview for Coyote Ugly at the theater thinking this was going to be the greatest movie ever made...until the end where it said "PG-13" Well, no point in watching this then.

Those two are both movies I was "convinced" to watch, and actually enjoyed. Garden State is good and extremely funny, and it's got a Natalie Portman "pool scene" - although it's not as good as Phoebe Cates' in "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" it's still enough to make it a much better flick from a guy perspective.

That said, I also have the "John Cusack" rule. If he's in it, even if it looks like it will be a total chick flick, I know there will be enough quirks/funny lines that it won't completely bite.

Just saw Two Weeks Notice (I think that was the name of it) on TV. I like Hugh Grant a lot and Sandra Bullock was good (believe it or not). And it's got Robert Klein.
