I was about to ask if anyone knew anything.

How many chips does he have?

He has 7200 chips with blinds 800/1600 and he is UTG in this moment. They are in the break in this moment.

He's playing great poker right now. Wouldn't be surprised if he goes far in the big one...

This is my 4th cash. Of course you want to win them all, but I'm very pleased with my finish yesterday given the cards I had. This is one of 2 events I think I have played perfect, not even 1 mistake, and that should be the goal for a poker player.

There was only 1 hand I have some doubt. With blinds 300-600 and 75 ante. I have AQ in EP+1, my stack is around 15K, player UTG with about 11-12K, decided to raise to 5K, and now the decision on me, calling is out of the question, so push or fold. He uses to open raise big amounts, but still he always have something, at least a medium pair, AT was not likely and AJ a slight possibility. I decided that he was commited and I don't have any FE, so I fold. Since that was the only hand I have in the last 2 hours I played, later I thought that maybe I should've gambled; but later I asked Eric Brenes and Edwin Moncada about the hand, and they both agree folding was the right thing to do.
In my last hand blinds were 800-1600, I'm in the LB with around 5K total, everybody fold to me and I decided my J8 is good enough vs the BB, so I pushed, he calls with K6 and I was out.
Basically I have only 3 big showdowns in all the tournament, 99-TT won, AA-JJ won and 99-88 lost. And picking little pots here and there. There was 1 hand I remember I could be eliminated, when I made an all in bet in the turn with AJ and board QT38, but he fold, and I was pretty confident he was not calling me.
All day was about not wasting any chip in marginal situations.
Well, my next tourney this Friday, the NL $3000.

Thanks for the support.

David

4 cashes in a dozen party poker tournaments is pretty impessive.

In the WSOP it is freaking awesome. Congrats bro!

Congrats on your run at the WSOP.

I fold the AQ hand there as well. It's not only the fact that your hand is not crushing his range, but also you're in very early position and could possibly run into a monster behind you.

Congratulations! The competition was very tough. I busted out at around 115th, 15 out of the money, In this event. I got as low as 600 chips in the 3rd hour due to an all in that I lost, and started pushing or folding. I worked my way up to 7500 in chips via over 10 all ins over the next 1 1/2 hours, getting called 3 or 4 times. By then the blinds were 300/600 with 50 antes so I was still in marginal shape. My last all in was with KQ suited in MP, called by and lost to AK. I must have been all in over 18 times in total. Even with all of those all ins, I was called infrequently so it was still difficult to buildup much of a stack.

I felt I played good poker, but with an AQ as my questionable hand as well. I had about 2000 in chips fairly early in the tournament. Blinds were 50/100. Raised 400 in EP2 with AQ, called by one player with about 3500 stack in MP. Flop was T82 rainbow. I check , he checks. Turn is an 7. I check, he goes all in, I fold.

I considered a continuation bet after the flop, but decided to check. I was surprised that he checked the flop as well, and as he was a bit of a tricky player, I decided to give up the pot if he bet. In retrospect, I think I should have bet the flop. I figured he would call my pre flop raise with AQ, AJ suited, maybe KQ and AT, any pair 88 to JJ, and raise pre flop with AK, QQ, KK, AA. I was losing to the pairs and AT. But I think he would have bet the flop after my check with the AT, JJ, but maybe not bet it with 88,99, or TT.

So on the turn I could beat KQ, AJ, split with AQ, lose to all others. Flaws in my logic? Flaws in the play?

This was just my 6th live tournament with a buy in of more than $1000, so I'm pleased but still thinking of that AQ hand!
