A bit early than the other post. I folded to me, I raise on the button with http://img.ranchoweb.com/images/vehn23/ad.jpghttp://img.ranchoweb.com/images/vehn23/7d.jpg. The SB, a loose passive, calls and the BB calls.

Flop:

SB bets, BB folds, I call.

Turn:

SB bets, I raise, SB calls.

River:

SB bets and I fold. Comments?

What was your purpose in raising the turn? An attempt to get a check on the river that did not transpire? Did you suspect a pocket pair (8,8) or perhaps a straight draw (9,10) on his part?

If he had checked the river, would you have bet or checked?

Bonus question: what exactly did the SB flash? This should be pretty easy.

Good guess but he wasn't that fishy.

You know, I just realized something. I think you may have fooled us both. This post doesn't say anything about him flashing his hand. Your other 8/16 post mentions that.

I'm confused...

erm I posted my "bonus question" in a reply to this thread.

Ah, I get it. I had just read your other post and thought you were refering to the guy that flashed his cards to his neighbor before the flop.

Sorry for the confusion.

The SB flashed http://img.ranchoweb.com/images/vehn23/6h.jpghttp://img.ranchoweb.com/images/vehn23/5h.jpg. I thought this was a good example of doing some hand reading when an otherwise passive player bets into a preflop raiser - IMO, its usually something like 70% a draw, 20% a monster, 10% top pair.

I'm really surprised to hear that. I could be way off, but my definition of a passive player is one that will never bet a draw.

Well obviously passive players rarely bet into preflop raisers /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif but when they do that's what I think.

If I knew your definition of passive, I would have obviously put him on 5 /forums/images/icons/heart.gif 6 /forums/images/icons/heart.gif and gotten your quiz right. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif
