I blame Britney for all of that. Since she actually can't sing, she wisely decided to sell her body rather than her voice. It worked. Unfortunately, Christina (who CAN sing) followed suit in an attempt to keep pace. Then Jessica (who sings much better than Britney but not nearly as well as Christina), who had been running a very distant 3rd until her MTV show came along, jumped on the "whore it up" bandwagon too.

At the end of the day, I say Christina's career ends up having the most longevity. But in the mean time:

Yeah, that seemed to be about the way it ran. Except maybe not enough emphasis that Brittney never really seemed to be selling her voice, at least to me. Her first sensational video got everyone's attention and I think it plays pretty much exactly the same with the sound off.
