Well I'm 1 for 1, so figured I'd take another shot (When I did this last year a week or so out Greg was the first response). So here goes, who among you are playing in this year's WSOP Main Event? It's a race... Go!

Ditto. Any of the Stars qualifiers interested in meeting up at the cocktail party on Wednesday night?

Liar! ZootMurph replied first, THEN Boris, and THEN Greg /images/graemlins/grin.gif

So, by that logic, the 2005WSOP ME Champion will obviously be David Cossio.

in via Party. MGM.

Day 1a.

this will be my first big buy-in live tourney and I would be happy to meet up with some 2+2ers at the conclusion of Day 1 to celebrate survival, compare notes, offer advice, commisserate over the bust-out, whatever. Esp. to those rookies like myself out there and those who play Fri or Sat.

Anyone else interested?

I asked about the possibility of a get-togther in a different thread (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Number=2735354&page=1&view=c ollapsed&sb=5&o=14&vc=1). MicroBob said there had been discussions of a gathering, but nothing official. I'm sure someone around here could set something up.

p.s. Day 1-C. Days off are for the weak.

Here is how I would get a seat if I had some time in Vegas.

play at $50 tables. Top 2 get $225 vouchers. Play is ultra soft and includes very weak beginners. Win 3 of these probably costs $200-$350.

Play rebuy tournament using vouchers for chips, rebuy, and addon. Value of $$625. Rebuy tournaments at 3PM and 7PM. Rebuy tournaments usually pay 10-80 seats, so you don't even have to make the final table.

o cool thx man

ya i was in vegas last week and played a bunch of 175's...those guys are HORRIBLE!! no clue how to play SNG's...problem was that i had all these $500 chips and turned them into cash and didn't have the stones to play any events.

this rebuy tourney sounds like a nice plan! i'm in there!

In via Party. 1B.

Called the MGM as I needed to verify broadband access, and was thinking of arriving a day early. They don't have a reservation in my name yet (or under PartyPoker or PartyGaming or PartyAnything). Should I be concerned?

Just sent an email to events@, but they've been terribly slow in responding. Has anyone had any success in getting details about the PartyPoker cocktail party and check-in* requirements, etc?

-Z

*Edit: Not tournament registration, per se, but one of Party's emails said "You will need to check in with PartyPoker.com before the start of the tournament. We will also organize a cocktail reception on the evening of the 6th of July."

haven't heard anything about the hotel or reception yet but did receive my Party spending money today /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'll probably start calling the MGM this weekend if I don't hear from anyone.

FWIW - I've had pretty good success in getting fast (< 1hr.) responses from both Party and the Rio regarding my status.

Okay, I got a surprisingly quick response from Party's travel agency. I am booked to the MGM, but they mispelled my last name. And the MGM will provide details about PartyPoker check-in and the cocktail party when I arrive.

But it does sound like our rooms are very ordinary rooms, which should only be going for about $89-139/nt, instead of $200 (which Party priced them at). They say they'll refund us the difference after the tournament, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Good luck yourself.

Day IC as well
also in via a B&M, two-tiered satellite 'series of poker'.
maybe we should throw our own reception for non-internet qualifiers somewhere.
