View Full Version : I am really, really leaking very bad early game.

I play sets of 8 and I notice I am knocked out in 3 even 4 before I even get to the bubble by really aggressive pre-bubble play. Do I need to start folding to the bubble or what? heh I am starting to think that is +ev

here is an example of such a hand: I knew I should have folded to his min-raise but I couldn't bring myself to do it. It was a spite all in, nothing pisses me off more than a min raise.

That would be a problem, yeah.

After he calls the flop, what do you put him on and do you think you have the best hand often enough to bet 1/4 of your stack on it?

On the turn his min-raise screamed KT.

Did I have the discipline to lay it down?

Of course not.

I don't know how I am a winning player.

Nah, forget the minraise. It's the turn bet that got you in trouble - easy check here and probably a fold to anything substantial with 2 people calling.

I wouldn't fold into the bubble, but I wouldn't risk a bunch of chips early on with middle pair.

check folding uncertain situations = more bubbles!

You know what?

I misread the board.

I didn't even realize I had second pair.

I thought I had top pair.

Wow.

I have no idea.

Like I said I DID misread the board.

I haven't slept in a while and I'm sick.

Maybe all of this is -EV.

I'm not this bad. I can't be. My ROI is too high over too large of a sample size.

Why were you betting out with middle pair vs 2 opponents out of position at level1?

Review your hand histories and compare that to what you are doing now.

That's what i did when i had a losing streak. (took 649 SnG's to breakeven.)

[/ QUOTE ]

What are your goals?
Do you want to make $$ now or actually learn to play poker?
If its the latter I suggest you drop to two tables and literally observe every single hand. If you're still bored read everything ever posted by zee, flynn, ML4L, limon, et etc in high stakes NL.

I'm serious. I see a disturbing pattern where people are running before they learn to walk re: multitabling. I'm quite sure that even on a per hour basis, there is a negative correlation between the number of tables you play and the rate at which your game improves. The effect is immaterial when jumping from one to two, and not huge from two to three, but I really don't think your game can grow if you're ABCing 8 tables.

YMMV.

No, he'd raise. I just limp because I'm afraid of some d*ck playing back at me with a worse hand, and I don't want to be tagged as a "blind stealer". I don't think it matters too much and I'm not willing to defend my position. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

That's one of those times you should feel free to show once he folds.

I didn't think you'd fold, then I read about children starving in africa, and thought I'd ask.

That 88 hand is the shits after the flop as well. This is an old leak of mine. I felt like if I bet once, I had to keep betting until I was raised or the other guy folded. Once he calls your flop bet (which I don't like) you need to take a deep breath and tell yourself, I can't beat [censored] now that he's called and it's time to put the brakes on. Also, the only reasonable draw he calls you with on the flop is J8 for the OESD and he got there on the turn! Even if your opponent is the worst player ever trying to give him bottom pair is terrible, and the worse you think he is the worse it is trying to push him out of the hand. I mean, you committed 330 chips postflop! That means you're gasping for air in Level 3 and done like dinner in Level 4.
