I'll be in Chicago for a couple of weeks and was wondering what my best bet was to find a good limit hold'em game of at least 20-40 or higher.

I'm getting conflicting stories. Someone said they have a room about an hour west of Chicago, but the 20-40 isn't steady every day. Someone else told me there are a couple of rooms south of Chicago but only one spreads 10-20 and up every day. Anyone know the name of this room? Someone said Harrah's, but I called and they don't have poker. ?? I'm not interested in home games.

Also, are there ANY pros in Chicago? I hear the games are great, but I can't believe ALL the locals are fish. Thanks guys.

You have a few choices.

Southeast of Chicago (Gary, Indiana, about 30 minutes from downtown) you have Resorts Int'l (Formerly Harrahs EC) and Trump. Both riverboats, both smaller rooms (15-20 tables). They do have larger limit games, but they spread on demand, so it depends if there is enough interest.
Harrahs Poker Room has call ahead seating (219) 378-3558, and will spread higher limit HOSE and Omaha (30/60 was the last omaha game I saw)
Dont remember if Trump does 1-888-21-TRUMP

West of Chicago is Hollywood Casino (Aurora, IL, Just under an hour)
They spread 20/40 starting around noon on Monday, Tuesday, & Thursday. 10/20 otherwise 630-801-7471

North to Potawatomi (Milwaukee, WI, about 1 1/2 hours)
10/20 and 20/40 (on interest) 1-800 PAYSBIG

IMHO, Trump and Resorts are your best bet. Those two also spread NL. Soft games and shortest drive. Don't stop for gas in Gary. Good luck.

What PokerJokers said. Also, Trump gets some higher NL games going, it seems. Any limit over 10/20 is rare there, in my experience. Resorts (Harrah's) used to have a 20/40 pretty consistenly, but I have only played there once in the last couple years.

Don't bother with the Illinois rooms. Potawatomie can have a wicked wait.

And, no, not all Chicago players are fish, but there enough to make the games pretty good.

T
