If they were in a playoff who would you cheer for?

I'd cheer for good golf shots. What a concept. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

i'd vote for Vijay because there is an unsettlingly high correlation between Phil supporters and Tiger-haters.

Phil all the way.

in fact, I'd cheer for Phil in a playoff vs. anybody. /images/graemlins/smirk.gif

agreed - i can't believe anyone would root for mr. singh - he's one of the most miserable people on the planet, much less the tour. he had to get into the golf hall of fame on a technicality, because he didn't get enough votes.

clearly he deserves to be in - but that's how highly he's thought of in his circles.

I would root for the earth to open up and swallow both of them. They are both world class pricks IMHO.

I don't know of many people who think Mickelson is a world class prick. Care to elaborate?

Rumors and scuttlebutt, along with intuition. His "aw shucks' attitude and goofy fake smile are obviously forced many times. He goes out of his way to cultivate his image, instead of just living up to the image in the first place.

Some links to some places that seem to agree-
world Golf magazine (http://www.worldgolf.com/magazine/archive-2005/mar08.htm)
Grouchy Golf (http://www.grouchygolf.blogspot.com/2004/09/phil-mickelson-and-dark-side-of-golf.html)
Chris's Sports Blog (http://chazsports.blogspot.com/)

[/ QUOTE ] While the crowds seem to love him, many in the media despise Phil Mickelson. The words "fake", "phony" and two more that end with the letters "u-c-k-e-r" were heard often when those in the know discussed Lefty.

[/ QUOTE ]

These aren't supposed to 'prove' anything, other than the fact that I am not the only one who feels this way about Mickelson. It is just a vibe I get, and one that has been backed up anecdotally.

Not to say he isn't a prick, because honestly I have no idea if he is or not, but those seem like really shoddy reasons. A vibe that a few people agree with?

This came out about as I expected. From what I've read, it seems like most PGA tour pros think Vijay is a nicer guy and does more for golf, but Phil always has the fan support.
