Ladies-only events are a joke.

End of discussion.

Couldn't happen to a nicer person. Here is what she would look like on bizarro world:

More importantly, Tilly 1, Laak 0. Phil Laak will have some hard time for a while (assuming she doesn't blow her enormous lead - no puns intended).

Always had a special place in my heart for her (except that nasty witch woman in Liar, Liar) - I almost went to go see Seed of Chucky just cause she was in it

almost....

mmm hmmm. forgive me if i have a liberal interpretation of "heart" in this context. btw, if you've seen Bound, your special place probably became even more special...

I should - between her and Gina Gershon, that would be close to a trifecta - (just need Jessica Alba in there too)

But ain't gotten around to it - don't know why...

The OP's post is retarded, and just takes a shot at Paul Phillips.

A more important thread header would be "Jennifer Tilly 1, Phil Laak 0". Now that is hilarious, given the circumstances.

Is it as difficult as a normal event? Of course not. Is it a joke? Of course not. There are many, many great women poker players and I'm pretty sure most/many of them played in this tournament. Again, I'm not suggesting that it is on line with a normal WSOP event, but winning it is not a joke at all.

According to CardPlayer, Tilly is still playing heads-up with a big chip lead.

The time of the latest update is 4:39pm (presumably Vegas time).

I think the very top of the women players don't play in this event. I know Annie Duke and Jennifer Hartman don't play in it and I doubt Liebert or Voilette do either. Maybe some of the 2nd tier like Jett,Ng and Clonie.

Barely, I see. One of the problems they may come across is that its like a guy playing a girl in a sport or a game and you hear the old argument that its a lose-lose situation. Either someone like Annie or Kathy wins the tournament and people say "Well, they are the best, they should win" or they don't and its "You can't even win the woman's event!"

Lol.. high profile women, one name, another lady identified by who her husband is not who she is and an actress dating a poker player. Face it most of the good women skip this to play for real money in a real event, like Duke last year winning a bracelet in another event while the lady's event was going on and Hartman doing the same thing a few years back.

If the competition is so weak that's all the more reason the tough female players should want to enter. Unless of course pride is more important than money. I realize its only a 1K buyin, but most players still entered the 1.5K events and with all the extra "dead money" in this one it should still be worth it.

Kathy Liebert and Cindy Violette did play in the event.
You can see a video where a woman in the tournament comments how in one table Violette was on her left, then they changed her to a table where Liebert was on her left.
Do you have any quotes of Annie Duke or Jennifer Harman mentioning they don't think that tournament is worth playing?

Read any interview that Duke gave after winning her bracelet last year and you will find all kinds of quotes about why she doesn't play the ladies event. I googled it and found several.

Annie: Not really. I don't think I did disparage the Ladies tournament even in the small clip they showed. I just said the money was bigger in the other event and I wanted to win my bracelet where anyone could enter. I am not sure why that disparages the Ladies event. I just chose to play elsewhere and said so. I basically said it was a business decision for me.

Even funnier since they did an a feature article on here and Phil and his friends called her a fish. Article was titled A view from the fish bowl i do belive.

Props to her for taking the time to improve her game. Also there were some very good women players in that event.
