View Full Version : Do WSOP final table players cut deals?? If so, will ESPN air it??

I've watched a fair amount of poker on TV, but have never seen players at a final table negotiate any prize-sharing deal, as I gather is pretty common (if not expected) during most any big tournament...
Are many of these side-deals made none-the-less? And if so, will the casinos / Rio / WSOP endorse them, as the floor will do in a live tourney?

Obviously ESPN can't relish the idea of its poker-watching viewers knowing that the ostensibly tense final table dramatics are nothing but cheap theatrics after a deal has been cut.

there is alot of prestige in the bracelet so that is really important to players involved, but yes deals are made.

Anyone who isn't aware that deals are frequently made probably won't notice any difference in the quality of play either. So it works out either way.

i remember gavin griffin saying that when he won his bracelet there was a deal made three way, but obviously ESPN never showed it.

In Positively Fifth street, didnt McManus say that ESPN or the discovery channel or somebody told them that they were not allowed to make deals and that that would get them in some sort of penalty?

I thought one of the players nixed it (TJ?) and then they were told they couldn't deal by some tournament personnel. In any case, no deal is ever going to be stopped if all the players want to deal.

On the "2003 Final Table with Moneymaker", Chris states he offered a deal to Sammy but he refused.

This doesn't surprise me, I would've turned a deal down in his spot too.

Like that matters when there's a chance to mindlessly fire another rip at Moneymaker.

Was it a 50/50 split, I recall reading that was what MM offered.
