I'm going to be in Chandler for the July 4 long weekend, and was thinking of checking out some local cardrooms. I know Casino Arizona isn't far from where I'll be staying in Chandler, and I believe they spread low-limit hold'em games.

Any 2+2'ers out there have any comments on the cardroom there, or any suggestions about other spots that might be good to check out? I'm assuming that at the 2/4 - 4/8 limits I plan to play, game selection isn't really an issue, so I'm thinking more of comfort/competence of the room.

CA and the Fort are your best bets.

CA is fine, but you will not find any 2/4 there, lowest they spread is 3/6. You can find 3/6, 4/8, 6/12, 8/16 and so on up to 75/150. They also have the "mock" NL which is really a 5-150 spread limit, but it plays close to NL.

The Fort is about 15-20 more drive time, but has IMO the friendliest room in the metro area and the lowest drops. You will find 3/6 and 4/8 all days all hours. Depending on the day/traffic you will also find 2-150 spread limit, and 6/12. They also have a nice fast paced $30 rebuy MTT twice daily.

I will be playing both this weekend, throw a "sup bro" at the spread limit tables and you might get one back. /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Cool, thanks! I'll probably be by mostly during the weekdays -- getting in early for the July 4 weekend visiting my GF, and need something to do during the days while she's at work. Unfortunately they don't have internet yet, so I'm aiming to get my poker fix the old-fashioned way /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Neat. Last time I visited, the page was still just a placeholder. Nice to see they've got a good collection going now.

If you're looking for 2/4, Gila River at Wild Horse Pass spreads it regularly now.

And it's literally the softest game I've ever played in in my life. Gila River is a gold mine. Don't pass go -- just hit it if you're near Chandler. Easiest money in live poker.

Cool, these actually don't look too far from where I'm staying. Looks like they've got three locations (http://www.wingilariver.com/) -- I think they all spread limit hold'em, but it's hard to tell from the web site. Is each location pretty much interchangeable or is one nicer than the others?

Casino Arizona is by far the largest of the three. Fort McDowell has some of the nicest staff and is very accomidating. Gila River is by far the rank lowest, and I normally get a headache from the smoke drifting in from the blackjack tables.
