Why is this a beat? And why is this in the Magazine Forum?
And why did you use RDV for cards?

And why didn't your opponent think this was rigged?

Because he himself cut the cards after I shuffle them.

How were any of your answers relevant? Your opponent was behind from the beginning. Why the hell did you use RDV when you could have just translated into KQJ, and how does cutting the cards after you shuffle them mean it's not rigged? A good mechanic can "force" a cut where he wants them.

The whole situation is just really funny. You go through all the trouble to use RDV so that no one will understand you, and then include a legend at the bottom to allow you to call people stupid if they don't read the first post thoroughly. Of course, when you see a post talking about catching the R of hearts, you're not going to read the whole thing, and now you are caught in the trap!

Actually, never mind. I am a horrible racist and I think it is hilarious that someone would use a French deck of cards. Obviously, all languages other than English are stupid and only dumb people use them.

Too much to make fun of...Um...let me see.... First of all, not that it matters as this is neither a particularly interesting, poignant, or relevant post in terms of the POINT of this forum, but let me start by saying, dude, its not that bad a beat. You had the nut flush draw and a gut shot broadway straight draw on the flop...any "D" including the "D" of /images/graemlins/heart.gif would have made you the best hand. Also, you could have caught an A or K on the turn to give you even more outs...most of the time when you flop the nut flush draw, with two overcards, and a gut shot straight draw, you will win, not that surprising. It would have been a bad beat for YOU had you caught only the nut flush on the turn, or any "D" other than the "D" of /images/graemlins/heart.gif, knowing the 7 was coming on the river to make your buddy the boat of course. You just happened to catch the best possible card imaginable. Not only that, but it can't be a bad beat for anyone if you have the absolute nuts and someone goes all-in because they have a strong hand as well, thats just being really really lucky on your part. However, if you had both gone all-in on the flop, the 7 came on the turn, and the "D" /images/graemlins/heart.gif came on the river, THAT would be a bad beat, and a bit more of an interesting story, although laughably irrelevant regardless. Also, how was this not all-in on the flop? Also, why was this posted at all? No offense, but it adds nothing to the forum IMHO. I feel I've wasted at least 10 minutes of my life that I will never get back to read this thread and respond henceforth. Oh yeah, if you're ever looking for a game...pm me your info...

Maybe you should read a book on Poker. My opponent was behind preflop but way ahead after the flop. In fact, anything but a Queen of hearts on turn and he would have won with the boat on the river.

Wow, do you even know what a beat is? You're ahead pre-flop, he's slightly ahead on the flop, you're WAY ahead on the turn, and you think it's a beat?

The numeric size of the stack is really quite irrelevent. If we agree to play multiple games, 30 BBs is fine with me. If we're playing only one game, I would want 50 BBs.

So, at $500/ game how many games are you willing to play?

I'll give a third party 10:1 odds for $100 that this match doesn't happen. Any takers?

Even if striker agreed, you'd definitely need to set this up at with a casino beforehand, and have the money transferred beforehand, otherwise 90 percent chance that you agree, fly down there, and striker doesn't show. But I'm guessing you know that.

I've gotten 3 royal flushes this past month online at pokerstars and I have ONLY played ~10k hands! Too bad they're usually pretty worthless since it's just one more person at showdown. :-( It still is very exciting to lay that one down in your opponents face.

07-08-2005, 11:17 PM
No, I think you'll find that is the Italian, not the French, deck. The French deck is specifically used to create huge appparently impenetrable plays, and then falls over at the first sign of strength. However, it does come with an excellent guide, "The Poker Players Guide to Eating Well for Once for Under $5" with a foreword by Mr K. Striker
