I'm pretty sure it should be, "The Yankees improved to 2-34 when trailing after eight innings."

but just two paragraphs earlier, the article said:

"Mariano Rivera (4-2) worked a perfect inning for the win, which improved the Yankees to 2-35 when trailing after eight innings."

Those were two bad teams out there tonight. I can't believe I picked the Mets to be the NL wild card.

When you have to pinch hit for your number two hitter in the 7th inning, he shouldn't be hitting number two.

The Yankees have an atrocious fielding team, to go with their reasonably good hitting and equally atrocious pitching. The Mets will probably win about the same number of games as the Yankees.

Well, the Mets sure as hell aren't 2-34 when leading after eight innings, so I don't know.

I was really hoping they would lose this one. The knee-jerk reactions and over-corrections that the Yankees are famous for are very entertaining.

OMG errors from an outfielder?? Throw the 2b out there man! He has NEVER made an error in the outfield!

Hey I heard Raul Mondesi is available.
