should I have pushed in pre flop? should I have made a smaller raise on the flop? first hand of a 33$.

I would've re-raised pre-flop...but not pushed. I'd have made it 150-200. The way it looks, you could've run into trip 5s. A bigger bet pre-flop could deny him the implied odds to play those (or just make him think you've got a bigger pair)

Other than that, you have top pair, top kicker with a pair of backdoor draws. His bet on the flop makes me think he's got a good ace. If he's got trips...you have to eat it.
