It's a capable card for that purpose. You would prefer to have native DVI outs for it rather than VGA DSub 15 adapters run into a converter, but for the price...decent deal. Imho, you can get a card with dual DVI outs with multiple heads for about the same price.

i have no idea what you are saying... maybe someone could like a better card/deal? around the same price range

For instance, I just bought a PCI ATI 7000 with two heads (connectors - one DVI (digital) and one VGA (analog) which run my second and third monitors very well. It cost me $40. I grabbed it from MicroCenter, but you can get it at many of the office supply joints and other computer stores. For PP and that ilk, it's more than sufficient.

ok...i finally am getting what dvi output is...and it looks to be better for the 2001fp...so now here is my problem. My computer only has pci slots and i cannot find a dual dvi video card that is pci. Only pci express. Will PCI express fit in a pci slot?

XFX PVT64KUAF7 Geforce FX5200 256MB DDR PCI Video Card (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?submit=PROPERTY&SubCategory=48&pro pertycodevalue=696:9642,691:9630&bop=and&Order=rat ing)

Has DVI and VGA 256mb ram and price is close to the one you posted.

JATON 3DForce Video-248PCI-DVI Geforce FX5700LE 128MB 64-bit DDR PCI Low Profile Video Card (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814139166)

This one is a bit more expensive but it has a better graphics engine (I think that's what it's called).

Check my edit above...I linked to a very capable card for $50 which is dual head PCI, one is DVI the other VGA. Hell for the price, buy two and use one DVI from each =)

Disregard, go to www.Microcenter.com (http://www.Microcenter.com) and look for Video cards on the right navigation pane. Then PCI vid card (BTW, PCI Express cards are NOT compatible with PCI slots).

There's a few there that will do the trick for you.

The lowest price on Microcenter is around $50.
If you want to go cheap here's another from newegg

POWERCOLOR RV6P-A3 Radeon 7000 32MB DDR PCI Video Card (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814131211) $43 with shipping

You can get two of these and to suit your needs. If you want to spend a bit more you can get this dual dvi agp card which will give you performance for a few years. The cheaper one's I'm not sure if they're do much video processing, your agp one might do that, if it doesn't then your system might drag a bit. Here's the dual dvi

XFX PVT43KUDF3 Geforce 6600 256MB 128-bit DDR AGP 4X/8X Video Card (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814150086) - $163 with shipping

You said you have open PCI slots, I assume you have an AGP slot thats taken up by your current video card. Looked newegg doesn't have a regular pci card with dual dvi.

That first one is essentially the same one i grabbed. Good deal. I think he is saddled with NO AGP slot available at all.

I have an emachines. Video card is part of the motherboard, and I only have pci slots to add a video card.

So lets say I get a video card with one vga and one DVI output. Will I need to get an adaptor for the DVI output to run two 2001fp's?

Yes, but card often comes with the adapter. Mine did.

Tough luck on the emachine. they are a bear for u/g-ing

yep. I also had an emachines that I put a PCI card in. You will need to disable onboard video. I did this after installing the card, with the help of tech support. It's easy when they show you how, but it took me a week of frustration before I looked the up.
