Who are the other 11? What's your #? Is there forever a line in the sand between those who registered on 09.02.2002 and those who registered later? Random thoughts after reading yet another repetitive immaterial post in some random forum.

Mason is #3
Sklansky, M is #4
Sklansky, D is #5
Ray is #6
Chuck is #7

They all registered on 08.28.2002, 5 days prior to the software change. So there are 2 names that Chuck created that we don't know about at #1 and #2, and maybe more between #8-#11.

I'm guessing #1 & #2 are some anonymous sysadmin types that they had set it up originally.

You can just change the number in the url.

#1 is deleted
#2 is "admin"
#8 is Mike Gallo
#9 is MS Sunshine
#10 is adios
#11 is Dolores

[/ QUOTE ]

The biggest debate, and it was a huge one, was whether or not the default should be for threads to be "bumped" to the top of the page with each new response. Prior to the software change, threads just naturally died as they fell to the bottom, always beneath and new thread that was more recently posted. It took about a month to finally sell to Chuck that the threads should be bumped to allow quality discussion to continue and to force the garbage to the bottom.

And then there was the whole flat/threaded mode debate.

Good times.

Edit: Don't forget how upset everyone was to actually have to register. Before you could just type in a name and post.

Absolute Nuts was the last to register on 09.01.2002, Dynasty, member #36 was the first to register on 09.02.2002.

I used 09.02 because that's when the bulk registered. Really though, anyone who registered in that month could be considered truly old school. 769 total prior to 10.01.2002.

So of the top 24, two don't post anymore (#11 and the one you saw), one is a generic admin account (#2) and one was created and deleted by Chuck (#1). That's not bad.

And I believe it might have been earlier had the new system not screwed me by refusing to accept my old single letter username.

Seriously, what could be the point of requiring usernames to consist of multiple characters? Presumably the system holds as unique each registered username...I can't think of any good reason why it would be programmed to reject single character usernames.

Any ideas as to why floating around in that bright head of yours, Clarkmeister? (or anyone else too, of course;-))

It's fairly baffling to me. I used to do some forms programming and can't conceive of why the field would have to start with a minimum of more than one (or three, or whatever the minimum actually was) characters.

Hmmmmm, Clarkmeister...if you can't conjure up the reason maybe El Diablo can. But this may be beyond even his powers too (without finding out from the source why, if there even IS a why).

Dynasty: Yeah, you, uh, talked to me about this at the 20/40 game today. I still don't care.
