30 buy in question

I had to withdraw 75% of my bankroll and am back down to $500. So using the the 30 buyin rule:

$330 for the $10's
$660 for the $20's

$330 < $500 < $660

Should I be playing the $10's and build up to the $20's buyin ($660) or should I play the $20's and play the $10's if my bankroll drops $330?

FWIW with my $2000 bankroll I was playing a wide variety of $10-$50 SnG's and tournaments.

If your bankroll is replenishable, I'd say go for the 20s. If it isn't, play it safe at the 10s.

I'm a constant withdraw'r myself (expensive kids!) -- I opt for the ladder...optimistically start where I left off each month, dropping down if need be.

I would play the 20's since it seems like you have the ablility let, that would be a nice way to build your bank roll. If you drop below then start playing the 10's

The answer has a lot more to do with YOU than it does any rule of thumb. If you plan to drop down at $330 you'd be playing the 20's with a $170 roll. As you know that's not much of a roll, more like "taking a shot". If you can live with taking that shot, failing, dropping back down for the now longer rebuild I say go for it.

If turning a small $500 roll into $300 might put you on any kind of tilt, or make you play scared, I say start fresh at the 10's.

It wont take much time (or much of an ROI) to grind that 500 into 750+. Then you're in business
