Transportation Between LA Poker Rooms and Convention Center

I will be staying near the convention center next month and I was wondering if someone knowledgeable about Los Angeles could give me some insight on the hassles I will face going from there to various poker rooms.

Is it possible or advisable to just take a taxi to any of the rooms? If I rent a car, what pitfalls await someone who has never driven in LA before? I'll be there on a weekend, by the way, if that matters.

You should rent a car. You will be within a 10 minute or less freeway drive of Commerce, The Bike, or Hustler. It really is no big deal as each room is right off some of the major freeays down here. If you need directions from where you're staying, just ask in this thread.

I second the motion: rent a car. Taxis are expensive in L.A. Near the convention center, you're near the relevant freeways and not far from either Commerce or the Bike.
